Playing VTE (arma2) online.

Hey all,probably a stupid question.Ive been trying to get online to play vte but cant find any games happening.Is there a site or something that i have to go too?.I have been in 1 game through the normal arma 2 OA multiplayer screen but got kicked straight away because of to high a ping.Is this because ime Australian and its an American server?Are their any Australian Servers running it?Any information would be appreciated because ime a bit of a noob.thx

There is no additional sites you need to go for VTE multiplayer, only thing you need to do is to find a server in the in-game multiplayer browser. At this moment our PMC Tactical server has been closed down and as I explained in the other topic is not coming back.

If you use the "Filter" button in the multiplayer browser, you can setup key words, good ones for VTE is; vte or vietnam. Unfortunately there is no dedicated VTE servers right now, there are few which run VTE addons but they have tons of other addons running too so you kind of cant play pure VTE.

If you really cant find any MP games for VTE at all and are desperate, please come to IRC (details here) so we can chat and setup a two man MP game between us.

Thanks for the answer Snakeman.Its ok ime not that desperate to take your time up just to have a game,but thx anyway.I will keep my eye out for games though through the Multiplayer tab.

Hey Snake, good news, I may have a machine that can act as a server next month. Its a windows box, not too high on specs but it should run VTE. PM me if you're interested.

Just between us VTE fans the water and river look fackin great much better then the Unsung mod...

If you put dedicated server up with VTE on it, please let me know and I can happily add that information into official VTE homepage, perhaps that gets some players there.

Excellent, thanks. However if I may offer a suggestion, how about naming the server like "Vietnam: The Experience - GrunT" as the "test server" is so vague and maybe even announcing "sorry but were just testing, move a long now!" heh.

When I add the server name advertisement into our homepage and mpmissions page, it should be unique, would be really cool if you rename like in my example?

Need someone with all right mods to get in the server just load one mission and play mission for 10.sec just see if it works cause last night 5 or 6 Soldiers tried get on server but couldnt....

Don't worry about it, the MP browser is full of idiots (no offense guys) who doesn't realize the VIETNAM server needs a VIETNAM mod. If you take a look at the official PMC Tactical VTE server topic, we eventually shut the server behind a password because there was so many users joining and they didn't have VTE installed.

I would take a educated guess that there is nothing wrong with your server, just those normal users who try to join without the mod.

Are there any regular games at the server going on? From time to time I take a look there, but there's just me as player. BTW the longest day does not work for me when I re-join. That is the initial connect is fine, I can play. But when I quit and want to join again later, I'm stuck after the class selection.

BTW we played two nice missions with TeTeT by me hosting server in my win machine, naturally we weren't able to play any of our new missions which all require dedicated server.

Let me check with the gf what are the plans for this evening, if its possible, I reply here within the hour. BTW I've got a new router and upgraded my upload speed to around 7mbit/s. So I can put the ded server on my laptop, just need to sync the vte module. Which mission should I put on it?

TeTeT Test Server is up now, password is 123, admin is 123456. There are no VTE missions in yet. Now checking out what the plans are for tonight.

Great, I've just added the beta to the server and now try to test it. As it is a Linux server, not sure if I need a new server binary as well? Missions come next.

Linux, ah. I'd assume they have released binary that lets us play with the latest builds as when you ran the 84xxx build, I could not join to it with my 87305.

According to BIS wiki a2oa-server-1.59.85663.tar.bz2 is the latest, but dunno if that is the real latest that they haven't posted newer on the forums... but in any case I recommend you upgrade to that version.

Edit: as I suspected, they haven't upgraded their wiki... here is a2oa-server-1.60.86912.tar.bz2 binary.

Anyone up for a mp game on Wednesday evening, 19:00 UTC, 20:00 Central European time? I'd use my laptop as server again, using the then current latest beta patch from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php. Any mission requests? If so I'd check upfront if they run.

Yeah I can join, latest beta... lets use the actual beta as I have feeling the real big v1.60 patch might come out by then (it will come out before christmas). Missions are good from the official mission pack, no need to check if they run.

I'm patched to 87546 and the server now uses a2oa-server-1.60.87357.tar.bz2. Server should be up and running now, connect to 'TeTeT VTE Server', password is vte, admin is hochiminh. I'll connect in two hours.

Nice session tonight. We played PMC COOP 32 targets 2 (random enemies) v0.1.8 and PMC Rice day. The first one showed a few errors in the server log, probably due to something uninitialized or already deleted:

We will have a Server up and running this MOD most of the time, and I would like to invite you all and anyone to join us on the server.
