Model's last LOD draw distance?

Post by Snake Man »

I have a slight problem with runway objects as they disappear as rest of the objects from the screen quite close. Now when you are landing into a airbase, its very frustrating if the runway pops up only in a last minute.

FPS wise the less than 20 poly runway object certainly wouldn't cause problems even when drawn from long distances.

Do anyone know what controls at which point object disappears from the view?

Well, could you hand me over that .pbo? I think in the last LOD is no model anymore?

BUT

Another way is this: In case you have "Object Detail" not on high in the options, every object does disappear at some distance.
Go on a mountain in Sahrani or somewhere else and compare Object Detail "high" and "Low" and you'll see, that at the high settings, the model does not disappear at some distance. Despite when you have the object detail settings on Low.

I think its the last one

You can take a look at it yourself, its the BIS runway model.

My object details are on high, otherwise they would disappear too early on large viewdistances (not talking about runways, just objects in general).
