After the beta was made, the project was dropped. It's better to do ODS and others where data are better.

Absolutely. Focus on theatermaking , one by one, is what's needed. Otherwise the outcome isn't quality.

A major factor for those "northern" theaters is that the SRTM datasets only cover minor parts of the theaters. So creating a realistic looking terrain will requier access to better datasets than available at DEM-server.

I would love to see it, but a finished Iran, ODS, Black Sea, etc etc would have have higher priority.

I sure do agreed, but if we want things to happen, we got to finish what we have started first. That takes time....

But there is another obstacle.......

SRTM data coverage http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/coverage.html

Could someone make another mission and cover the remaining parts of the earth ????

Digital Terrain Elevation Model with 1 km resolution doesn't get it close to right. There is too much to fix to make it look good. Maybe someone should make a program that extracted DTEM-data from Google Earth ? That would help the situation, unless there are other good datasets available ?
