Hi all!

I'm Jashin, a pilot of AMVI ( www.amvi.it ), I'm trying to learn how to build a theater. I'm using CATE for tiling terrain but I think my auto-generated TDF files are bad, so i read about an utility by SnakeMan to fix this problem. Help me and Thank you all!

You do not need this fix util anymore when you're using dem2terrain.

dem2terrain creates the TDF such way that they work automatically in CATE, no problems.

ok the TDF files are ok, but when I try to tile cities with CATE, I receive Runtime Error "9" message. This is the .conf file I use:

TDFFileName:C:\UK\UK-CITY.tdf

Excuseme but I continue to have problems using CATE. So, correct me if I'm wrong:

1) Go to DEM site and download the Theater's area

2) Go to Digital Chart of The World and download all the files of all countries in the Theater's area

3) Open .hdr file using Dem2Terrain

4) Oper all .eoo files in Dem2Terrain

5) Generate Theater

6) Open CATE, set the path of the conf (written for use Dem2terrain's .tdf files)file and the path of theater

7)I receive runtime error 9 message

Where is the error?

Use my example conf file but change the TDFFileName to reflect your path. Does it work then?

Yes, I've changed the TDFFileName path, but it doesn't work... I receive runtime error "9" message...

Does the city TDF files load ok in terrainview showing the orange city areas?

What windows version are you running, 98, me, win2k2y, xp?

Ok I'm using Windows ME and in TerrainView I can't see the city orange areas...I can't see the rivers and roads too...

...but when I try to load popoint.e00 file in Dem2Terrain before I generate Theater I receive an Error message : "Unrecognized types of e00" ( this happen only with popoint.e00, the others files are OK ). Is it a problem?

If your TDF files are broken, of course CATE gives you error :)

popoint.e00 is not used. forget it.

Fix the TDF files somehow, I suggest you convert them again and load up in terrainview. You should be seeing image such as the map images here

If you cannot see matching road, river and city features in your TDF files, then you got a problem.

hi all!
I'm new in theater building...i've downloaded all file and programs in the download section of the site...there is a little confusion but I'm trying learning.

I've the same problem as Jashin!
In dem2terrain I can load .hdr and all features, but when I try to load the .L2 in terrainview I can see only the airport!!!
Not river, nor roads or city! nothing but only the airports!

I've CATE but I didn't find any config file where can I find them?
I've perl's scripts, but where can I find perl the program?

It's too strange, I'm trying to build an UK Theater ( just for training ) and when I load the e00 files in DEM it seems to be OK, but when I see the Theater in Terrain View and I load the terrain features I can't see roads and rivers.

I see only 1 road and 1 River in the north of UK...

Snake could you send me your city.tdf and your rules.obr for DEM just to see them?

The download page has been updated with Quicksilver's CATE conf files for korean texture.bin

Check them out, they are real nice.

Its on the web, "active perl" or something. Guys posted the link here somewhere but cannot find it right now. Use google.com to find it :)

My rules.obr is default, it does not control what will be created for TDF files. It only sets rules for objectives creation in the CSV file.

To all having problems with their TDF not showing up in Terrainview or not processing in CATE:

Check your tdf RIVER ROAD CITIES COAST
if they are terminated by a zero they wont work.

Solution is to remove the terminating 0!

I've been told that this error should have vanished with dem2terrain v 1.9 but it seems still going strong :(

Yes Snake Man, DEM2 v 1.9 still create TDF files with ending 0's... :(

dem2terrain v1.9 adds the 0's at the end of the TDF file line, thanks for confirming that.

Terrainview v1.53 reads these TDF files OK.

Latest CATE versions doesn't.

I have asked Skyfire that if he could fix it, so lets wait what he says. Sorry about this confusing stuff at the moment. If you are hurry you can always use older dem2terrain to create the TDF's and new to create CSV ;)

By following the book, Terrainview_lg want show dem2terrains 1.9 .tdf for drainage, roads and large cities.

Problem seems to be on my computer, since Codec can load the files without problems. But neither CATE or Terrainview can load the here.... Size related maybe ?

I'll check more....

With respect to fixing this Zero thing at the end of coast cities road and rivers - t can be used to selectively enabeling roads and rivers. It could be automated somehow as the E00 files differntiate between highways and other roads. As far as I sse f.eks the european theater there are too many objects compared to Korea. which has aprox 2500 objects and my own baltic already now lists around 14000 and I have still no bridgesplaced. So selecting a subset of the roads and rivers would reduce the number of briges neededconsidderable.
