ActivePerl

Post by Wolf »

Hey Guys,

how does the AcvtivePerl work?
I downloaded the msi package, but I don't understand how to install it, but above all, how it works?!?

In the tutorials I find "...use perl's script..." only, but where Can I find a Perl's tutorial?

Use the search in this forum for perl, search only this Theater Tools area and you should get plenty of matches.

Wolf. The MSi packages only install directly on win2k and xp. For elder windozes you need the MSI installer upgrade by Microsoft.

When Installed the *.pl files will be executed directly by the perl interpreter.
If you need a more visual solution install KOMODO the IDE for all languages from Active State! With respect to perl tutorials go to oreily's publishing site they have the Camel book ( about perl ) online! But be aware of the fact that perl from active state is a little bit different from the "original" perl for Unices (linux, bsd, solaris), so some of the commands only will work as supposed when running under Unix while the win32 extensions (modules) only work on a windoze box!

I have WInXP!
the package contains a folder (ActivePerl) which seems to be an installation (as you have to unzip only) and a .bat file named installer.
When I click on the installer I have a prompt dos window...and then?? :?
