Jim's SP3 mod!

Post by ccc »

Jim's very capable of tweaking parameters and creating new campaigns since old FA days, here's his latest mod:

Changes to files used in F4 Browse:
The following files have been changed from the original SP3 files. They are found in the Falcon4\terrdata\objects folder. You will need to make back-ups or copies of the originals from your SP3 install.

-Falcon4.wld (weapons load)
-Falcon4.ucd (unit control data)
-Falcon4.vcd (vehicle control data)
-Falcon4.ssd (squadron stores data)
-Falcon4.acd (aircraft data?)
-Falcon4.swd (sim weapons data?)

F-16C
1. There are now 3 different F-16 versions as is in real life.
A. F-16CG (USAF Block 40/42) is primarily tasked with precision strike capabilities using LGBs, LANTIRN and FLIR.
B. F-16CJ (USAF Block 50/52) is primarily tasked with SEAD missions. Currently, this version doesn¡¦t have landing gear.
C. F-16C (Block 30/32) is the basic F-16C from the Desert Storm era. It is primarily tasked with CAS and strike missions. Currently, this version doesn¡¦t have landing gear either.
2. None of the F-16s any longer perform Reccee missions.
3. The F-16CJ has the HTS/HARM as an exclusive weapon, while the F-16CG has the LANTIRN/FLIR and LGB as its exclusive weapons systems. Both of these versions can deploy the JSOW and JDAMs.
4. The Block 30/32 is the only version still carrying the AIM-9P Sidewinder.
5. During campaigns, all versions will be tasked for multi-role, but the F-16CJ will have a very heavy SEAD workload (This is helpful during campaigns since SEAD strike missions are 4 ship flights and the waypoints can be used for other types of A-G sorties). Additionally, the F-16CG will be tasked with more strike missions.

MiG-17: Modified this plane so it can now be shot down! Also, I reduced the weight so it flies better and doesn't stall out as easy.
J-7: The J-7 carries the PL-7 & PL-8 A-A missiles. These are IR homing missiles
and are comparable to US Sidewinder missiles. J-7s can be a menace, especially if jumped while loaded down with ordinance/fuel. I was unable to get extra fuel tanks on this plane, so it has a short range and may be found running out of gas.
Su-7: Modified weapons and fuel tank loadouts and ATO taskings. This is a strike aircraft with AA-8 IR missiles.
Su-17: Modified weapons and fuel tank loadouts and ATO taskings. This is a strike aircraft with AA-8 IR missiles. It will also perform SEAD missions with Russian ARMs. This plane still lacks range due to high fuel usage and lower internal capacity, but it can be effective when launched from airfields closer to the FLOT.
Q-5: A Chinese built aircraft that resembles the F-105D ¡§Thud¡¨. Modified weapons and fuel tank loadouts and ATO taskings. This is a strike aircraft with AA-8 IR missiles.
MiG-27: Modified weapons and fuel tank loadouts and ATO taskings. This is a strike/SEAD aircraft that is capable of disabling airfields and late generation SAMs (Patriot). This plane currently has some major anomalies when loaded with weapons.
Su-39: Now has AA-11 missiles and carries most of the newer Russian A-G weapons. This is a strike/attack aircraft that is an upgrade of the Su-25.
Su-24: Modified weapons and fuel loadouts. It can destroy SAMs with ARMs and has an attack profile similar to the F-111 Aardvark.
MiG-23: Has better fuel management, but they still may run out of gas.
F-5E: Modified weapons loadouts and fuel tanks. Has better range, better weapons logic and now has the AIM-9M sidewinder.
Su-27: Now carries a lot of extra gas and has been changed to be a dedicated air superiority fighter.
Su-30MKK: Has extra gas and better hardpoint symmetry.
MiG-29A & S: Both of these have been changed to be A-A only. They carry extra gas.
MiG-31: Has extra gas, but still may flame out on long range missions.
F/A-18D: Now carries the same weapons as the F/A-18C, including the JSOW.

Ground Units:
HQs Battalions: All three OPFOR HQ battalions now can be used for air defense since two of them are the only units to have the SA-8 and the SA-15. This means that if you place them at an airfield, they will position themselves into the air defense positions and not lined across the runway. The same is for placing them at an air defense site, which is nice especially since they now have trees. Additionally, one battalion is now called HQ (ZSU-23), which is because it has 9 Shilka units in it, and is very effective against low flying targets. There are some air defense sites that do not support the proper formation of the HQ battalions, so you may still see them in a line at a few sites.

ccc,

I believe I saw something about the CJ not being set to complex model in the dat file. That's the reason for no gear.

Open the F-16CJ.dat file, and look for the key that says "Complex Model" and change the value from 0 to 1, apparently.

As for the Blk30 F-16C's, might want to re-add the HARM capability... Spangdahlem-based F-16C's carried HARM's (along with F-4G's in Hunter-Killer teams) During Desert Storm... This would be accurate for a Desert Storm Campaign that was deisgned to use Pre-1991 build equipment... That said, for the Korea 2005 Campiagn, would be accurate to have the HARM removed from the Blk30's...
