interestingly. hellenic viper maneuvor around 200-250kt till he got missile lock..crossover for 2-3 times..scissors?
then it seems the seeker take longer time to lock-on target..earlier model sidewinder?

CCC, the Greek pilot uncages the aim9L after
he gets a lock on with radar. Note the blinking diamond accompanied by the pulsating tone.
You will notice in the scissors everytime the Turkish F16 goes through the HUD, the aim9L tone increases. The missile is in bore mode, and when the heat source goes through the seekers FOV it knows....
He had a good tone when he locked up the Turkish jet with radar. He then manually uncaged the seeker.

Re: Video: Hellenic f16 vs Turkish f16
Just some info about the fight...
It occured in the airspace between the island of Rhodes and Cyprus (SE Med), after turkish F-16s continually buzzed the HAF C-130 that was carrying the Greek minister of Defense from Cyprus to Greece.
The scrambled Greek F-16s then identified and engaged the THK jets, and remained engaged until the two turkish F-16s were 'convinced' (i.e. started getting annoyed by the constant beeping on their RWR's).
Yes, it is a classic scissors fight (with the Greek jets wearing 2 wing tanks and a centerline tank), in DGFT mode and BORE. After the lock-on and the subsequent guns, the HAF pilot uncages his LIMA (kill=2 FOX2s or 1 FOX2 and 2 guns)...
No it was not training, and yes, both the event (FIR-airspace infringement, and subsequent interceptions), and its outcome (one very humiliated THK pilot) are routine;-)
Cheers,
Angel
PS: There might be a time this fall where I'll try and sort some vids out and present them in a decent space for you folks to see...Until then memorize this: "Tha ton xeskiso ton bine"
