Snake Man please read
I live in the middle of the mojave desert, well not really the middle. Anyway, I was thinking I could take some photos with my digital camera (pretty high end camera) of the from a distance. Then import the pics into photoshop, crop the pics to get a "photo" quality texture of desert terrain. I have access to several different types of natural desert terrain (rock types, sands, etc.) I just thought by taking the pics from a distance, we could have an accurate representation of the desert. Please let me know if you think this would work.

In one word, yes.
Take as many photos as you can from different areas to get different terrain in it. Let me know when you got some images ready to see.
Thanks.

I can do two different approaches, one 1 can crop photos to a desired piece or I can just shoot jpg files and you can crop the areas you want. Let me know. I'll probably start today.

Anything you can get for us is very welcome.
Do you have a web space where to store them for me to pick up?
Lot of large images is pretty fishy to send through email. Hmm maybe we can sweet talk Widowmaker to help us out with ftp
Anyways let me know when you get some images ready.

Re: Snake Man please read
I guess I should say thanks. However, I hate living in the desert. It's hot, dry, and we have no changing seasons. I'm originally from Tennessee which I hear is very much like Germany/Austria in appearance. Do you know if Snakeman received the pics, and if these pics will help any? I haven't heard anything from him.

Snakeman can I get hold of thos photos? They would come handy when making mountain tiles for ODS. Where can I get other textures that are used in ODS theatre?

I'll trade a little 125 degree temp (farenheit) for a little snow and ice. I'll probably have some time to shoot some more pics in the next couple of days. I'll get some shots of the changing terrain from desert to mountains. It's pretty strikink to see the gradual change from desert floor to conifers forrest.
