couple things about the ODS theater

Post by Jarhead »

howdy,

nice work on the ODS theater. i didn't realized how large the theater was until i took off on a mission and had 200+ miles to the target!

only things i noticed was at the beginning of the Desert Storm campaign that there are Army units on the Kuwaiti/Saudi border but in RL it was Marines who were there and went into Kuwait.

the other thing was i noticed was this:

and

.... are those a known issue or did i gaff up the install?

thanks for the great work fellas!

Uh oh... there goes the neighborhood! :)

And WRT the Army/Marine unit location, kinda the same thing. The ground units still need tweaking in terms of placement and composition. I think all the air units are more or less historically accurate.

Welcome aboard Marine! :D

PS - you have my email? I've got something I'd like to send ya. No big deal, though.

Thanks I'll change this.

Do you have any specific units/numbers etc that could help me to place them?

Nothing wrong with your install, just forgot to edit those texts. Its now written to the bugfix list so next version has them reading something about ODS. Thanks for posting about that.

Great job SnakeMan! Thanks for all the work and time you guys invested. I have just one question regarding mission building. It seems that there is no "TEAMS" button. Was this intentional or an oversight?

howdy,

T-Rex, i don't have your e-mail addy but send it to ez73@swbell.net (it's my old e-mail addy but i haven't closed it out yet so i still have access to it)

the screenshots were for the text being Korea instead of Desert Storm ... should have made that clear but the wife was chattering at me when i was trying to post it ...

as for the number of Marines on the Kuwaiti/Saudi border, i know the majority of both the 1st Marine Division and 2nd Marine Division (around 75,000 men & women with M1 and M60 tanks, towed 155mm artillery, LAV's, AAV's, and numerous supporting units) were there as well as numerous other forces from the coalition including elements from the Kuwaiti, Syrian, Egyptian, British Armies as well as others. i'm sure elements of the US Army were there also but i know the Marines were the first to breach the Iraqi minefield that was strung along the border. There was also a Marine Expeditionary Brigade consisting of around 10,000 marines sitting on ships in the Persian Gulf awaiting an Amphibious Assualt on Kuwait that never took place.

like i said, no complaints from me, this is a damn good job for all those who are involved.

The Teams button is not available on 128x128 theaters. Apparently it causes a problem. Same thing for threat circles. :)

Thanks T_Rex. I had the last beta and I didn't remember if it was there or not. BTW, did you notice the two 666th sqdns:
one flies the F-16 and the other F5E's. :?

1. Sq number can be changed easily, with TacEdit. not big issue.

2. BTW, lots ODS bugs are due to incomplete/unfinished database items. you got to wait till next SP. say, i knew you can't kill Su-17, because all weapon types cannot damage it! the damage value is 0 by any weapon there!! :D
