First off, let me say that this has been a dream of mine since new theaters started appearing!
What kind of help do you guys need? Research, tiling, mission planning, technical info ? I would probably be best a research and technical info since I have no programming experience.

Havoc out.

Vietnam should be interesting because there is no simulator that I've flown in that region. I think there was Flight of the Intruder A-6 simulator on... amiga or was it PC AT heh, so.

Well help, research would be nice. historical facts, base locations with maybe even coordinates, targets etc. Any kind of hard facts of the war & equipments used is highly appreciated.

Yes, Flight of the Intruder took place from USS Constellation in the theatre. Played it a lot on my Atari ST, flying A-6 and F-4s (you could even fly MiG-17s and 21s in multiplayer link). Would you be interested in the target lists etc. from the game? There were even photos of them, e.g. the ThanHoa and Doumer bridges were both there. I have my ST somewhere in the garage, can have a look and get you the info.

Ya, I like the idea, the Flight of Intruder!
I played that TFOI form Sepctrum Holobyte long time ago, then its JimG's Nam lib for FA bought back the right feeling of TFOI!

Perhaps we can put a carrier in Token bay, and launch F4 sortie from it, just like that of korea theater.

I've made some tests on campaign engine now. All objects show up just ok and the campaign starts rolling, but no flights get planned and ground units do not move.

But, its a good start when we have "campaign" in the Vietnam terrain up and running.

Snake...setting the ownership of respective objectives triggers movement of ground troops . The troops will move out to defend certain areas.

After a new TacEdit version and Schumis testings I made first running campaign for Vietnam theater.

It wasnt too hot, but it was scheduling flights, so things look very good.

I've trying hard to learn about the campaign save0.cam file specs now, currently the status is that there are many ground objects and U.S. (ROK) airbase schedules lot of BARCAP flights, but no ground strikes are committed yet.

The new tacedit with link creation support works pretty ok - I think we will get working campaign in matter of days now.

JimG, could you help me out with some ground unit locations and the tacedit settings for them?

I've added many U.S. Squadrons now and few Vietnamese, they do engage each other aggressively.

First ground troops introduced, Vietnamese SA-2 site defending Dong Hoi Airbase fired upon F-4E Phantoms that came too close, it was very cool.

Tomorrow I'll be bringing some tanks and other ground units to the war and see how they handle themselfs.

Let me tell you that the U.S. airplanes conducting deep strikes to North Vietnam was impressive to see. Heavy B-52's, F-4E's and F-111's bombarding like crazy... wow.

If there is enthusiastic 'Nam fans out there, I could give out beta Campaign files for you guys to test, at least they run perfectly fine at this point on my F4 installation.
