Re: 3D Models
the 3d model format is generated by MultiGen, then converted to its unique format, LOD?.
Wolf, you want to play 3d modeling?

I'll give it a shot, what do i need to work on the models?I got a feeling that the software may cost more than I can afford though.

Re: 3D Models
Well,I've done some fairly radical changes to the 3D models in EAW.I've been looking at the aircraft in the game and it struck me that besides the F-105 and the Skyraider, the Skyhawk and F-100 are missing.I was interested in doing some modeling on these planes.I have some formal training in both AutoCad and Solid Works.
When you say your waiting on a converter I assume it's a utility to either extract the 3D wire frame from the main file or one to insert the individual files back into the main file once your done working on them.I'm also going to assume that unlike EAW,F4 does not recognize individual files in the folder.

Re: 3D Models
Wolf- did I see you somewhere before?
 (Ajax here)
That's some good news...I use Max 4 on a daily basis (as well as AutoCAD and SolidWorks) and I always wanted to use it for EAW/F4 modelling, but wasn't able to. I remember that F4 editing was primarily done by hex editing, hopefully that will change soon.
Great work on the Nam conversion, guys! Keep it up!

Re: 3D Models
Folks, you can do what you want with the planes. However, for trying to stick with the historical aspect, your focus should be on some of the key players for the era that you are going after. If it is the 1972, era then here is a short list, including those that are already available:
F-4 USAF/USN/USMC, F-105G (Weasel/2 seater), BUFF, F-111A, A-6, A-7 (Navy/USAF), KC-135.
Some of the other planes (RF-101, F-100D, A-4*, F-8*, F-102, F-104, F-105D) were either removed from the theatre or were used in limited numbers(*). Now if you can just figure out how to put chaff inside of the airbrakes....

Re: 3D Models
ya, thanx your input.
i've done most of them, in rough LOD2-3 level, with no moving parts.
BTW, JimG, whats the list of earlier vnam warbird?
and, support a/c? b57? a26? OV-10, U-1?

Re: 3D Models
Multigen is commercial software, costs like $40,000 I been told. my friend has v2.2.1 of it and there is no BSP Plane options included. He dont know about the later versions if those have the option available.quote:Originally posted by Com_gp:

Simply, v2.2.1 at least wont do any good for Falcon 4 3d models.

Re: 3D Models
Hey, ccc, maybe with a little of luck we have all of that (moving parts, transparency,...) for the summer,
other thing, does anyone know where can i find good sat pics of vietnam, ive been looking in four diferent satpics webpages (nasa, space imaging, geography network and earth from space), i have just found a couple of good ones, this is because i was trying to do some vietnam tiles (just for fun, I hope snake man dont get mad about this
) and all ive done by now are the coast tiles, hey, the vnam beta 4 is pretty good, i love that theatre, the only problem i have, as many people, is that the the front gear or something of the f4phantom is broken whenever i take off, i dont know if this is a problem of the theatre because i experienced that in the korea theatre also.

Re: 3D Models
I wont. If you get very nice tiles maybe we will add them to the theater later.quote:Originally posted by Com_gp:
