Help about creating terrain.

First of all Merry Christmas to everybody.

I'm new to this of creating terrain and I'd like to get some help from us. I've been reading the terrain tutorial and these are my first two questions:

1- What's dem2lf.pl perl by Julian Onions?. Is something I have to download?.

2- Do I need to download something about Perl?. I've visited Perl page and I can download Pearl source code and Binary distribution. Which should I download?.

The perl operating is pretty difficult to most people (including me), I'd suggest you check out Miran Klemenc's spherical converter located in the downloads. I havent used this very much yet, but it should do the job.

Also I have very VERY simple windows program to create basic terrain files. Easy and fast, very fast.

Ok, I'm in business. Could someone tell me why the Penn State web site for downloading map features will not let me download my map features in PC compression? I tried Unix compression and that works, but PC compression does not. Which compression should do I need for DEM to L convertor program?

What is the link where are you trying to download the DEM data?
