Theater Idea

Post by che »

I have a problem with disk space but have a CD writer.
My question is: can a theater work off a CD thats in the drive while running falcon if the file that states where a theaters directorys are located points to a disk?

The theater definition files say like:

# where the terrain data is
terraindir terrdata\Vietnam
# where art is loaded from
artdir artvietnam

So I assume it defaults to the falcon dir as "root" dir, so no... it does not work from CD-ROM (different partition).

Someone with better knowledge can of course correct me.

Yes - it should work. If the pathname looks like it is a full path then it will be used as a full path, and won't prepend the falcon base directory.

So if it starts with a
<letter>: - as in f:/...
or
// - as in //machine/foo
then it will be used directly. So you could put the terrain on another disk, or a CD without problems.

terraindir s:/cddata/theater

If so then i'l try it with some theater.

A nother question:
How do I run the scripts for turning TGAs to falcon resource files?(in the tutorial it doesn't say anything about HOW)
