Simple question:

I notice in the original falcon files, some l0, l1, l3 files along with the l2 file. What are those files??

Here comes the professional theater maker guy answer: I don't know.

Heh they are the detail level or something .. uhm levels.

What I'm trying to say is those other than L2/O2 are no concern of yours. Terrainview reads only L2, CATE reads only L2, TheaterMaker utilities read only L2... and finally the Tinstall reads only L2 and rebuilds the other L files from that.

So don't worry, I can see no reason why you need to use/learn about those files.

Hi

If you get hold of the old Balkans V1.0 release there is a description of the L files with diagrams to illustrate how they work "in sim". But basically they are Level Of Detail files for the terrain which are rendered dependant on the terrain's distance from you so the L0 is the highest detail with an altitude, texture point every 250m, the L1 is every 500m, the L2 is 1km (very important this one as many of the supporting files are in this resolution) and so on.

Hope that helps.
