WrpTool public release

WrpTool is a island creator utility designed for easy use with features that speed up the creation process. This util edits terrain, you can add objects and textures with it, it also includes the wanted copy and paste feature. For placing roads we have included a Road Tool feature which makes building of roads quick, accurate and fast task.

You can go from ground up to a working island in no time with WrpTool as we have included fully working and tested example files for 12, 25 and 51km island sizes. This along with our 85 page manual should get anyone up to speed who is interested in OFP island creation.

For more details and most importantly, the download... visit http://www.pmctactical.org/ofp/wrp.php

Absolutely amazing :) This tool has drastically cut down my island editing time. Great job! One problem though, once I access the wrp file with wrptool, wrpedit will not read it and says it is not a valid file. why is that? The game reads it fine. And once again fantastic job!

Because its saved in 4WVR format. You need to binarize it to make it compatible with WRPEdit/Visitor.

Open the WrpTool_Manua.pdf and read it, there is tons of information there.

I'm happy to provide more details if necessary after you've read the manual.

Bravo snake_man and team, you guys have really outdone yourselves... I have been a mission designer for years and mapping is always something I wanted to get into. I had problems setting up bulldoser and the other tools were never user friendly enuff for me. But with Wrptool I was up and working within minutes of installing it. My first job was a retexture of jean christoff's normandie. After I retextured it 512x512 textures I saved it, repacked it and tryed it out. it looks great but I have run into one problem... and it seems memory related.

after driving around and inspecting my handy work, I suddenly CTD'ed. here is the error message that followed: "CreateIndexBuffer failed 8876017c - out of memory?" I figuered Wrptool had drained my memory so I rebooted, shut down all of my programs and retryed it. boom after a few minutes it happened again. I have plenty of memory and use mod folders to stay away from memory map problems. Did you encounter any problems like this during beta testing?? any help would be appreciated.

other possible causes:
1)the map itself features cornfeilds and lots of enterable buildings... perhaps its a little heavy when you include high res textures
2)I have also just installed 1.94 beta but If anything, OFP has been more stable since installing

specs: AMD XP @2100+
512 DDR RAM
80 gig HD
Windows XP home
GeForce MX4200 overclocked to 4600 speeds

thanx again for the great tool and im off again to try retexturing another island ;D

Can you try similiar re-texturing operation for some BIS island using other low res BIS textures?

Maybe that would help you to track down the problem if its normandy/high res texture related or something WrpTool does.
1)the map itself features cornfeilds and lots of enterable buildings... perhaps its a little heavy when you include high res textures
Thats why I suggest you first make trial run on some default BIS stuff, just for example Malden/Everon/Kolgujev stuff, to really play with the small amounts of memory.

I may have it sorted... but i still havent been able to get normandy to work... thanx for the quick response. I have another quick question. perhaps i missed this in the readme, but i cant get the object previews for my added objects. they are properly pathed and show up in the 3d view but again i get no p3d preview. any ideas?

This was explained in the manuals page 41, you need to take screenshot of the p3d object ingame and then place 128x128 bitmap image out of that into the 3DPreview dir and also add the name to the icon_images.ini file.

Let me know if you run into any problems trying to add them or the page 41 of the manual is confusing etc.
