No, something like every x feet, add n1 to R, n2 to G, n3 to B, or something like that, that would be hardcoded in CATE.

At this time (you'll see that in the upcoming version), you can only define a color for each tile number.

Sounds good, except the hard coded part. We would like to have different colours on jungle and desert terrains.

Each tile number? are you saying for example ODS I need to define 2300 entries to the config file to make simple bitmap? :)

Exactly ... You want something powerful or not ? :D

In fact, you can define lists as before, such as (100-500) so no need to define all 400 tiles between 100 and 500 ;)

BTW : email is sent. Let me know if you received it or not ...

That's super powerful, but its also super bitch to configure.

But we'll see.

Here's another question (hey, I figured out everything else until now... - yeah, right! :D )

Multiple transitions.

Take for example a farm-forest-coast tile, i.e. "HCOST612.pcx - 528", where three diferrent terrain types come together. How does this work? Would you make one transition first, then the other? Do you somehow do this in one step? Or is this one of the few reasons a manual check also needs to be made?

Or has this already been answered? Don't remember seeing anything related to this... (Unless it HAS been discussed, but I'm too dumb to realise it...) :D

This has been discussed, but you won't like the answer : I have no way of doing this correctly.

You can try, though, to do it in two passes, one for each transition. But I don't know if the results will be great.

OK then, as I said, some manual work is always needed. Fine with me.

Something else: are we going to see CATE v4.01 anytime soon, or are you holding back for some more changes? Or is it nothing much to talk about, compared to v4.00?

I'm now at 4.02 :

- 4.01 has some "good" enhancements, like rivers and roads ending better, and of course, when tiling them I try to choose, if possible, tiles for which we have a corresponding texture

- 4.02 just corrects a bug where CATE would crash when showing your rules if there were too many

It's up to Snake Man to put this in the download section.

Btw, I (out of curiosity ;)) downloaded CATE and tried running it. I have VB runtime files installed but I got the message saying it needs "vb6fr.dll"..Hmm, this is my work computer, NT 4.0. Any ideas?

I suppose that is where is your problem, xjussix.

No, I've seen this thread, but it still could mean a lot of things (generally not very nice), even if I'm not a tyhmä :D

Ok, I'll translate it. If you ever come to Finland you probably shouldn't say 'Älä vittuile minulle' or you're going to end up in a fight. It's the same as "Don't f*ck with me". I guess 'vittuilu' = 'to f*ck with someone'..So, not very nice. :)

Oh no, you're far from tyhmä. I'm tyhmä. You're a very clever guy. :) Btw, where did you get 'tyhmä'?

OK, one more try :

"siis, Jussi itä tyhmä, eikö niin ?"

Sorry, I just know a few words, and tyhmä is one of them (just to be clear, that's not what I really think) :D

I dont understand a damn thing right now!

Cate isn't supposed to run under win2k- right?

Apart from the failures while performing it's tasks it loads. ( Have installed VStudio 6 ent. en bloc) It loads.

Switched to windows98SE
Got the first VB6fr.dll missing.

Installed only VB6 enterprise and rebooted
still missing VB6fr.dll when trying to run CATE 4.05.

Went over to Micro$oft got Runtime Installer Service pack 4.

Still missing the Vb6fr.dll. I hate M$Localisations! Aparently a version from France?

Hey Skyfire, I was wondering if the bitmap saving according to altitude ever get into the code?

Right now I know how to save bitmap using the tile offsets, but there is no way to make this kind of bitmap:

#Highest Altitude: (176,176,176)
#Then: (187,187,187)
#Then: (203,203,203)
#Then: (220,220,220)
#Lowest altitude : (242,242,242)

Is there?

No, there is not, AFAIR, unless CATE auto-generates code ... ;)
