Finally the long awaited Animals Guide FS22 is available in its first draft. I wrote these notes back in september 2023 while playing in PMC Farm Lab FS22 ported version (unreleased currently) and PMC Super Six 6km Animal Game-mode #1 savegame, now I finally got around to put these notes into actual web pages last night and finished just now.

Animal Feeding Cattle and Dairy Cows Total Mixed Ration Farming Simulator 22 (FS22)
2025-09-29T11:18:36Z
Another step by step look on animal feed, making total mixed ration (TMR) yourself manually using all the realistic tools instead of the magical production chains building which accepts only loose material.
Got myself Siloking TrailedLine System 1000+ 4535 mixer wagon, pulled by New Holland T7.315 HD tractor with twin wheels and front weight (not that tractor specs matter, but hey, details, haha). I used Claas Scorpion 1033 telehandler with Magsi bale fork to load the bales.
First I took one 5.5k liter 150cm round bale of silage, dumped it into the TMR mixing wagon. It now shows silage 100.0% full.
Then I took 8k liter (180cm?) hay bale, dumped it into mixing wagon and now mix is hay 62.1% and silage 37.9%.
I switched over to new holland t7.315 hd to take a closer look although FS22 Simple Inspector mod would have told me the same thing, siloking trailedline is 14.5k liters 32% full of total mixed ration. Umm OK, its already TMR without me putting any straw in it, huh how come?
Hmm I thought you have to get the proper mix together, you cant just dump two bales and be done with it, but hmm perhaps the straw is then more like a filler material, not sure.
BTW new holland t7.315 hd tractor didn't have to turn on siloking trailedline system 1000+ 4535 mixing wagon, it did that all by itself, or its kind of cheaty in FS22 engine that it does it automatically and its up to player if they want to actually turn the tractor RPM up and run PTO into that trailedline mixing wagon when it chews that material up, no idea. Just to test I now turned on the mixing wagon with B hotkey.
Then I took that 11k liter 180cm straw bale, dumped it into the mixing wagon and it started to chew it up, the percentages slowly process through the incoming material before the bale disappears. Now the mix went to hay 35.3%, silage 21.6% and straw 43.1%. Hay and silage are on green between the markers on "the progress bar", however straw is RED, yikes!
Because silage is least on the progress bars, I'm going to drop in another 5.5k liter silage bale...
BTW when you approach mixing wagon with telehandler, F1 menu pops up the mixing ratio (siloking trailedline) dialog, nice, you don't have to switch into the tractor pulling the mixer. BTW simple inspector now shows new holland pulling "Forage: 25,500 l (56%)".
Dropped second silage bale there, mix is now hay 29% green, silage 35.5% green and straw 35.5% red.
Then dropped second hay bale there, now mix went to hay 45%, silage 27.5% and straw 27.5%. All green. Now simple inspector changed the output to show "Total Mixed Ration: 40,000 l (88%)", ah okay so it went from forage to legit TMR now. I wonder if you cannot feed forage to cattle/cows hmm.
BTW at this point I'm super excited again to be making TMR, but I'm sure that excitement passes once you learn the recipe for the mixing wagon and your cattle/cow herd increases in size and eats more and more AND MORE
But hey, I'll take enjoyment and excitement anywhere I can!
Okay so TMR wagon mix in progress bars looks like straw is just at the top part where it would go to red next, silage is all in the low bottom (left part of the progress bar) and hay is about the middle way. So, I'll drop in silage bale.
Dropped third 5.5k liter silage bale there, mix now shows hay 40%, silage 35.6% and straw 24.4% all green, mixing wagon is full 45k liters of total mixed ration, mission accomplished!
Well, that was easy. I mean don't get me wrong, I've done this last time on PMC Super Six 6km Animal Game-mode savegame and hmm in some other PMC Farm Lab small savegame before that, so its not like I'm doing this the first time, I just don't have my notes at hand here, I'm hoping this text becomes animal tending guide addenum for detailed manual TMR making page, or something. Anyways, now I'm off to buy cattle and dairy cow barn placeables
I started to drive new holland t7.315 hd with 650kg front weight and man it was struggling to pull that big siloking trailedline system 1000+ 4535 mixing wagon filled with 45k liters of TMR, it was struggling so much that I doubt it can pull it up on a steep hill, hmm. Maybe I need to get a bigger tractor.
So I switched over to Claas Axion 960 tractor with twin wheels which got 428 horsepower, maybe this works better. And it did work much better.

Re: Animals Guide and Tutorial FS22
Found these notes from my Gaming computer local text file, not sure I think most of this has already been listed in PMC Farming website but just in case its not, data is dumped here.

Total Mixed Ration (TMR) mixing recipe with nice overflow for Silo King Trailedline System 1000+ 4535 mixing wagon.
2 * 150cm round bale silage 5.5k liters
1 * 180cm round bale straw 11k liters
2 * ?cm round bale hay 9k liters
Now the mix is perfect but wagon is only 40k liters full, there is more capacity you "must" fill. At this point with this recipe there is plenty of progress bar space for silage. So lets add more.
2 * 150cm round bale silage 5.5k liters
Now the wagon is full with 45k liters capacity, it actually got full even before the first 5.5k liter silage bale was completely "dissolved" into the mix, now there is technically extra 500 liters silage and then completely full/intact 5.5k liter silage bale. However the wagon physically still has plenty of space, so adding more bales as follows.
2 * ?cm round bale hay 9k liters
2 * 150cm round bale silage 5.5k liters
Now in my example filling/stacking there are already two silage bales poking out from the wagon mix material and here comes the problem. Giants cow barn large has limited space on the drive through door where you fill in food and straw for bedding, if you stack silo king trailedline system 1000+ 4535 too high, it wont fit through the door.
Also you need to keep the mix in mind, if you have open feed lot or some kind of placeable where height is not a problem, you can stack the mixing wagon as high as it physically allows you to, but if you only stack one type of material then it throws the mix out of whack once you unload TMR to the feeding trigger and the wagon starts to mix those remaining bales.
