Sugar Beet Harvesting Farming Simulator 22

Post by Snake Man »

These are my notes about sugar beet harvesting. I wanted to title this topic as "sugar beet harvesting gu-ide" but didn't want to add that label there yet as this is still quite the learning process for me, I'm not an sugar beet lifting expert yet :)

The biggest sugar beet harvester from giants default in-game stuff is Ropa Tiger 6 XL, its self propelled harvester doing the sugar beet topping off first, then lifting the beets off the ground, storing them temporarily in a ugh space on the harvester, then overloading into a trailer. This vehicle works pretty well, no issues with is so far.

Ropa Tiger 6 XL, 4m header, 2 vehicles with 2 headlands using lands field work mode in FS22 Courseplay is not enough headlands, this sugar beet harvester cannot turn in one go, it has to do one back and forth shuffle. Use more headlands, 3 seems to be the good option.

Any larger field than hectare or two and you should increase the number of sugar beet harvesters from 2 to 3 or 4, plus all additional sugar beet tractor trailers (or if you go with semi-truck beet trailers).

Rain does NOT prevent you from harvesting sugar beets.

I'll keep crop destruction OFF, not to cheat but for the simple fact that sugar beet harvesting with tiny header widths is such a tricky task that you save yourself a lot of frustration when you don't have to worry about FS22 Courseplay/AutoDrive worker messing up and disabling the mode which kicks in crop destruction automatically. I never drive on crop, unless FS22 Courseplay/AutoDrive fails.

Instead of getting a sugar beet storage building placeable mod which holds lousy 800k liters or so, its just way better to dump the sugar beets on the ground in some open area. Yes of course you have to pick them up once its time to move them either to sell or use elsewhere, that has to be done with wheel loader + bucket or some sort of belt system from Grimme for example, or that Ropa Maus 5 self propelled machine which picks stuff from ground and dumps into trailers. I don't exactly like this ground dumping method because its not regular old school Courseplay/AutoDrive/Bin/Silo/Trigger compatible way, but considering one sugar beet storage building placeable hosts 800k liters and your average sugar beet harvest yields more like 8 MILLION liters, yeah, you do the math how many buildings you'd have to buy and record all those FS22 AutoDrive waypoint target points for them :)

Questions:
- does large terrain cultivator_density and fruit_density image resolution make harvesting (taking the tops off) sugar beets difficult?
- is ropa tiger 6 xl the largest sugar beet harvester available, are there any mod's that have better specifications?
- what tractor pulled "toppers" and beet lifters (harvesters) mod's are there?
- beet piler placeable mod would be awesome, where can we get one?

Please share your sugar beet harvesting methods and experiences, any good modifications to be used as well, would be much appreciated, thanks.

Bergmann RRW 500 sugar beet auger wagon is GARBAGE. It doesn't work with FS22 AutoDrive. First it doesn't unload sugar beet harvester because the beet cart is not registered as "trigger" or whatever by FS22 AutoDrive, then once you fill the cart manually and FS22 AutoDrive sent it to unload into semi-truck sugar beet trailer, Bergmann RRW 500 auger will collide with Krampe SKS 30/1050 trailer edge as FS22 AutoDrive doesn't know to adjust the augers height. Manually you can unload harvester, adjust auger height and dump into Krampe SKS 30/1050 trailer.

Choose another sugar beet auger wagon than Bergmann RRW 500 :(

Continuing yesterdays miserable sugar beet harvest experience, I dumped sugar beets from Krampe SKS 30/1050 trailer into the ground with CTRL-I "forced dump" feature, well that works very badly, the trailer refuses to dump as you constantly have to move it forward, it for some reason cannot back up to even slightest fill-type-pile, guess the geometry of the trailer collides with the pile and then its a no go. I had no idea krampe trailer is this bad for dumping and therefore hauling sugar beets :(

Back to basics, dude... time to break out Penta DB 50 (silage) trailers and get hauling, no problems emptying Ropa Tiger 6 XL sugar beet harvesters and dumping into the ground with CTRL-I feature, just enjoyable sugar beet harvesting.

Yeah currently my farm doesn't have cash to buy amity beet cart which costs 135k, I'd like to but no have dineros, oh well.
