Contracts Playing Guide FS22

Post by Snake Man »

All those PMC Start From Zero stories would not be possible without contracts.

Here is my Farming Simulator 22 (FS22) Playing Guide: Contracts.

To me farming and doing contracts is so essential functionality of FS17, FS19 and FS22 that its almost difficult to explain what contracts are and how they work, I mean ... don't you know this already? ;)

But I'll try to write comprehensive contracting guide which includes awesome FS22 Better Contracts mod use as well.

Feel free to reply here if you find any errors, typos, etc issues on that page.

Using Farming Simulator 22 (FS22) v1.14 and Better Contracts v1.2.8.8 mod. Basic background knowledge is that with Better Contracts mod new contracts appear at first day of every seasons month at 0000hrs midnight, then from 0000hrs to 1200hrs ie midnight to noon, AI farmers will not do any field work if the lazyAI option has been switched on. After noon at the months first day AI will begin working on their fields if they so choose to. So if you are looking for new contracts to appear, its first day of every month right at midnight 0000hrs, if you want to grab lucrative fertilizing/spraying or silage baling etc contracts, then hoard them before noon and you're good to chill for the rest of the month. I learned this through experience and reading Better Contracts dev posts back when playing PMC Super Six 6km Start From Zero real proper savegame (where I btw cleared whole contracts board, whoah).

Was in 9 day "seasons" config in FS22, it was dec 2nd day on calendar running, all other contracts had disappeared except cultivating and plowing.

Now I'm speculating when the next contract type appears, jan most likely is winter month without anything growing like grass so I'm not expecting anything to appear then. Feb, now that is still a winter month but maybe, just maybe... grass baling contracts might appear, I kind of doubt it but will see what happens. After this test I know and document it so there is never again confusion about winter month contracts :)

Mar is already spring planting season for many different crops so I'm expecting grass baling contracts and everything else being up and running at full speed.

Jan 1st came, I time accelerated 1000 speed (for production chains buildings to keep up) until 0755hrs and waited several real life gaming minutes, no new contracts appeared, the board only has cultivating and plowing contracts. So looks like january is a no go then, next chance feb.

Feb 1st, now seeding (sowing) contracts appeared, these are for the cotton planting season, no other seeding/planting than cotton types.

But yes if you were suffering from lack of contract field work variety during cold winter dec and jan months, in feb you start to get at least some basic seeding contracts to mix things up.

I'm now expecting the flood gates to open on mar 1st when spring planting etc season officially kicks off :)

In my current savegame and mood I was waiting for lucrative, easy and quick contracts, so I filtered baling, fertilizing and spraying. It was interesting that when I refreshed contracts board with X hotkey, it flickered some fertilizing contracts which immediately disappeared, they were there just for fraction of a second that I managed to read the first contracts type name, wonder why that happens, is it FS22 itself of Better Contracts handling that, hmm interesting.

Mar 1st came, as expected at 0000hrs brand new contracts appeared when hammering X hotkey to refresh the contracts board. There are now more seeding for different crop types, fertilizing and spraying (only 4 though, its early in the season) contracts as well! :D

I didn't even bother to filter harvest contract types as there is nothing in harvest season until jun 1st when barley harvest season begins.

Baling contracts did not appear yet, that is odd as hmm shouldn't grass be ready to mow now, hmph :?

Playing on the next real life day, its now still in-game mar 1st and I have just finished all the fertilizing contracts on the board, meaning the ones that are larger than 0.98ha as hundreds of fields are so tiny without proper field definitions. So far so good. Now there is only one spraying contract worth doing, well there is one more but its only 4k reward so hardly worth even driving to the field. Been hammering hotkey X refresh contracts board but nothing shows up, I'm afraid before I seed some fields there will not be more fertilizing contracts, so now I'm considering do I just time accelerate or break out the bourgault air drill and go do a round of seeding contracts.

I would love to do sugar beet planting but I don't have that planter yet nor money to buy one, of course I could use borrowed vehicles, but, well, dunno...

Hmm I got 190.2k cash, going to do few cultivating contracts to make money for kinze 4905 which costs 249.5k, hmm that's fair bit of cultivating contracts to do, but going to see how it turns out.

Hmm and I'll do few of the closest seeding contracts to the dealership with borrowed vehicles.

As soon as I got one oat planting contract running and cultivator tractors autodrive sent to the fields I refreshed contracts board and now there was 18 more fertilizing contracts (big ones) which I accepted all. Good deal.

These new fertilizing contracts are on fields that AI planted just now, apparently this happened soon after 1200hrs (noon), even though I didn't have lazyAI turned on for sowing contracts, perhaps it still applies hmm I would have to re-check the wording on that one.

Actually I didn't even realize how time flew by, its already noon and AI has started to work on the fields, for example if I wanted to hoard some seeding contracts, well obviously there are still plenty left but some of them are already done, for example the largest field on the terrain F33 (but now I have fertilizing contract for the same field). Not sure what happened there, obviously I time accelerated to the morning day break, then did the few fertilizing contracts... and I just lost track of time, no idea why.

In-game 1242hrs even more fertilizing contracts opened up, I accepted them all, now I had 52 contracts active, oh my I am going to make so much dollars its going to be crazy, its gonna be a loong motherfucking day :P

In-game 1258hrs another refresh round and now I got 58 active fertilizing contracts :)

In-game 1427hrs one last refresh fest and now I have a whopping 65 active fertilizing contracts, where is my dollah!? :D

2025-09-22T17:20:43Z

Its now the next real life gaming day, in-game is mar 2nd 1423hrs and I just finished fertilizing contract for the last and biggest field on the list, now there are only those field definitions that are template placeholders, meaning 0.98ha in size so not worth doing, unfortunately FS22 game doesn't understand that, it just offers field definitions for contracts. Tried to refresh contracts board but nothing for spraying, just a lot of cultivating, plowing and seeding contracts (and those mentioned 0.98a fert ones).

2025-09-23T08:46:11Z

Its now in-game mar 5th (or rather 5/9 day), checked out the dealership nearby grass fields that should get contracts, well the two big ones were still in harvested stage, two medium size ones were ready to harvest but there was no contracts offered, I've been refreshing contracts board multiple times in-game day, nothing shows up, state is still the same where I finished all the fertilizing contracts.

Was just browsing contracts board for any new fancy ones I could do, I spotted a situation; top-1 reward contract was cultivating 263ha field for 474.3k and top-2 was PLOWING only 123ha, over one hundred hectares smaller, field for 413.8k which is roughly said pretty much the same reward. Man, do plowing contracts pay that much more, hmm this needs some investigating, might be worth doing more digging/ripping then because I like my john deere 2410 ripper implement so would be enjoyable to do those field work tasks.

Cultivating:
129ha, 232.6k
106ha, 191.9k
96ha, 173.2k
88ha, 159.4k
79ha, 143.4k
76ha, 138.1k
75ha, 135.7k
69ha, 124.6k

Plowing:
95ha, 320.7k
94ha, 316.7k
89ha, 302.2k
69ha, 234.9k
65ha, 218.8k
55ha, 186.7k
47ha, 159.1k
40ha, 136.6k

Okay that is enough reference data. It is pretty clear now that plowing contracts pay much more, almost like 100k more than cultivating, so I see absolutely no reason to do cultivating contracts anymore if there are plowing ones available. Yeah sure plowing is more horsepower/equipment demanding so perhaps its just classified as paying more and that makes sense, but yeah I never realized this, I just saw cultivating as very important part of field work cycle, like fert - cult - fert, etc, but man now with this realization... I am attacking plowing contracts like a mad man using my favorite john deere 2410 ripper :D

In my PMC mod-set there is that case ih tiger-mate 255 which requires 500hp and has 18.4m working width and 15km/h speed, the john deere 2410 requires only 320hp (which might be mistake on mod makers part, but I'll go with it), is only 16.7m wide and does the same working speed. So overall I'd say JD 2410 ripper is better tool to work field with, at least in this context for contracts.

In-game mar 6th 1045hrs dispatched three big tractors with john deere 2410 rippers to first plowing contract field :P

2025-09-24T02:46:24Z

Its another real life gaming day, still mar 6th in-game, I'm now doing some large plowing contracts with three john deere 2410 rippers, budget went from basically none (started with cultivating contract when I was in single digit thousands) to over 1.4 million, looking good. Still I wonder though, where are my silage baling contracts? :?

On next time acceleration its already apr and then I'll get busy planting corn and soybeans to my own fields.

2025-09-24T23:47:05Z

Another real life gaming day has just started, its in-game mar 7th 1830hrs, refreshed contracts board, I believe 2 more contracts appeared but I don't know which ones, I assume they are seeding contracts for the two plowing contracts I finished last night, not sure. Not really much to update here, I've been somewhat sad in the past few days as there has been no fertilizing or spraying contracts. Although why would I be sad when I make millions of dollars with ripping contracts. Guess its that those are with 16.7m width and 15km/h working speed implement so they are slow as shit compared to fertilizing field work. On the other hand, rippers have no extra cost for the product nor will you ever have to refill them, just the diesel fuel for the tractors. Anyways, new day has started, wonder will I see new month and contracts today, I doubt it :)

2025-09-25T11:27:38Z

Finally reached farm work tasks so that time accelerated to in-game apr 1st 0011hrs, refreshed contracts board and now there are two silage baling contracts (yes!) and something else brewing under the hood but dunno yet what as I just alphabetically list cultivating first. But I think there should be tons of more seeding contracts now.

After few more minutes and refreshing, now I see bewildering numbers of very lucrative contracts on the board, I love spring planting season :D

2025-09-27T02:01:35Z

New farming day has started, loaded savegame up, its now in-game jun 2nd and after refresh hammering contracts board wildly, there are now NINE (9) silage baling contracts available! :o

This must be a record that I've seen in PMC Undefined Farms 20km so far. So mark this date, month of JUNE (early, second day in 9 day seasons config) and you got boatload of silage baling contracts.

2025-09-29T02:52:30Z

Just another farming day running here, its in-game jun 4th 1651hrs and working on my own fields now after making five (5) million dollars yesterday hammering fertilizing and plowing contracts. Now I want to make a comparison numbers for profitability between fertilizing and spraying contracts, perhaps even do a quick overview between fert and herb product prices as well. I want to find out which of these contract types is more lets say expensive to do product wise and in the end profitable, my go-to contract has been always fertilizing and then spraying (herbicide) goes along with it but it often feels like spraying contracts come later in the season years.

Fertilizing:
55.2ha, 103.7k
26.24ha, 49.2k
25.71ha, 48.3k
25.4ha, 47.7k
25.21ha, 47.3k
20.5ha, 38.5k
15.03ha, 28.2k
10ha, 18.7k
4.94ha, 9.2k
1ha, 1.8k

Spraying:
253.7ha, 405.9k
85.98ha, 137.5k
69.99ha, 111.9k
53.54ha, 85.6k
36.74ha, 58.7k
29.96ha, 47.9k
25.43ha, 40.6k
20.8ha, 33.2k
9.87ha, 15.7k
4.93ha, 7.8k

Unfortunately at this time the selection of contract field sizes was a bit uneven, I did all the bigger fertilizing contracts yesterday, but those 25ha and 5ha field sizes match and looks like spraying contracts come up short in comparison.

As for the product comparison, 2k liters of liquid fertilizer costs 3.2k and herbicide is 2.4k, so product wise herbicide is cheaper. Solid fertilizer big bag of 1k costs 1820 so 2k of it would be 3.6k so that liquid fertilizer is few hundreds cheaper. Guess those numbers would mount up on the long run, so if you think about the big picture... then yes guess spraying herbicide is less expensive, but then again contract rewards are quite bit less too, so humm dunno how that would eventually play out.

2025-09-29T10:55:50Z

Its now in-game jul 1st 0455hrs and huge number of oat harvest contracts appeared as canola, oat and wheat harvest season started next to barley. Strange though that there are NO canola or wheat harvesting available. ESC mapview shows that this season has several wheat fields, but none of them indeed have harvest contracts on them. Overall there are slightly more oat fields than wheat. Dunno. Oh well not that its a problem, just something that caught my eye and was wondering about it. There is plenty of money and seed factory and chicken barn resource material to be made on these existing barley and oat contracts :)

Farming Simulator 22 (FS22) Contracts Type Field Work Order

In which order certain field work types appear in FS22 contracts board?

I just finished HARVEST contract and next up comes CULTIVATING contract.

Also from previous knowledge (from FS19, to be specific?) I know that cultivating opens up seeding and seeding opens up fertilizing contracts.

I don't know when herbicide spraying contracts appear, I mean logically they come after seeding but if fertilizing comes after seeding then well hmm does herbicide spraying appear like this: seed -> fert -> spray -> fert, umm, maybe? :?

2025-09-25T04:38:00Z

Confirmed contract availability:
  • seeding -> fertilizing
  • harvesting -> cultivating
  • plowing -> seeding

Farming Simulator 22 Contracts. In FS17 they were called missions, in FS22 they are Contracts. HOWTO make money in Farmsim? just grab some contracts, easy.
