A strange request. Back porting maps to previous Farming Simulator games
Now. This is a little different, probably not something that should be posted here. But I wasn’t sure where else exactly I could post it. I was looking to find some possible 8km maps for Fs17, and Fs15. What i found. Were three maps. “Broad Acres 16x” (fields are too square, and the fences make it hard to do anything) “Osceola 16x” (never released) and “Cornbelt 16x” (my personal favorite, but with over 750 hours on them since fs15, it’s time for a new map). (Yes I know they are in X naming scheme, and not KM, but that is technically part of the name. And I got to wondering. Would it be possible to take a map like the Shelby Montana 8km, or perhaps the 32km map, and back port it to fs17? I realize this would be pushing the game engine to the max, but I at least want to try. Do you think it’s possible? Should I give it a try? (Note: I will not redistribute the converted maps, I will however, send them to you if YOU wish to publicly release them) I like map variety, and large size. These maps would be perfect, perfect for fs17, and possibly fs15. They have a certain feel to them that 19, 22, and now 25, just don’t really have. It’s hard to explain. Any response would be appreciated, thanks.

Screw it! I’m creating my own map. I’m actually going to force myself to sit down and learn how to map, here we go, wish me luck.

Farming Simulator 17 (FS17) terrain editing.
Moved topic to Farming Simulator 19 (FS19) editing category where it fits better. Yeah the forum doesn't have FS17 area, but will have to do with the FS19 one.
You should study GIMP Terrain Design Document tutorial, with that you could design your dream terrain, refine it to your liking by making slight changes on the design. Once the design is just like you wanted it, then you can generate ground detail texture (_weight), cultivator_density and fruit_density images out of it, meaning fields, asphalt/dirt roads, farm yards and possible railroad tracks are done.
It would get you to very close of playable terrain, sure you still have to place all the objects, field definitions, paint farmland etc, but that kind of design doc painting is not only fun but it saves so much time and helps with the design as you can already see in the image what works and what doesn't like distances and such.
Once you have design doc done, then there is plenty of learn about small technical aspects of Giants Editor use. I'll and hopefully other users are here to walk you through any issues coming up.

Thank you guys. I’m experimenting with both a Fs22 terrain and a fs17 terrain. We will see how it goes
