Hey Snake! How are you? I have a question and obviously you are the man with the experience in the subject, if you don't know it, nobody does.

I am in the process of creating an island, "for a long long time" but I have an existential doubt, when creating the island can you configure a vision distance?

I ask this because I saw if I remember correctly on Clafghan Island that when opening the editor and spawning a unit and doing a preview, the vision distance is always the same, it doesn't matter if you have 8000 or 10000 meters, it is very short maybe 1600 or 1800 meters, I suppose it is to improve the FPS.

I have not found information about this.

Just to confirm, you are doing this for ArmA 2 (arma two)?

Honestly cant remember how this was in ArmA 2, but if we assume it was the same as in ArmA 3 then there is a limit how far the slider in main menu video options go, you can go further with scripting commands, put them into ini.sqf or some units init line. Standard stuff "setViewdistance" like in PMC Editing Wiki: ArmA 3 Scripting Server Parameter viewDistance.

If you want the terrain itself using config.cpp viewDistance entry, hmm I have no recollection on that, maybe I don't remember or there is no such config property to set. Overall its a bad idea to force viewDistance at terrain level (if possible), maybe someone has really bad video card or something that they just cant run some maxed out viewDistance.

Yes, I confirm it, for ArmA2, I also checked again, the island is clafghan, even if you set the vision distance to 10000 you can only see 5000, it always puts a fog that doesn't let you see further.
I was just curious because I don't want that to happen to me on my island.

Anyway thanks Snake, yes I know so many years have passed that sometimes remembering certain things is complicated after so much time.

But I'm still glued to ArmA2CO and I keep making mods
