Thanks for the report, that will have to be corrected by hand on L2 and on .cam files. Also the other parts of the river need to be tweaked. I believe I did the wide rivers in southern Vietnam with CATE bitmap tiling, at least I have those bitmaps in the dir here.

Fictional campaign odd bug
EDIT: Ok, I've checked into this and this is actually normal. I looked first at Falcon 4.0 SP4.2 and then at F4: Allied Force. They both do NOT have any junctions in the OOB (Political) section. But they do show up in recons. So this is not a bug in that regard.
Here's a really odd bug.
There are two entries for "Hoi An" in the OOB that we could find (both were towns or village type objectives). But none of them are for a "Hoi An Junction". But Hoi An Junction shows up in a recon done on the map where a large number of units are getting held up and won't move (more than ten). The units will move up to that point and then they stop and won't move any farther. Hoi An Junction doesn't show on the map as a political objective (or any other objective type) and we couldn't find it in the OOB for any of the countries.

Those are just south of Da Nang right?
They are cities with priority 50 and parent Da Nang. Hmm. In tacedit I cannot find anything wrong with them on quick surface look on them, both historical and the fictional campaigns (which both run identical objectives anyways).
Will have to look into this, again thanks for reporting.

I'm not talking about either of the two cities named "Hoi An". Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Here is a picture showing what I'm talking about:Snake Man wrote:Those are just south of Da Nang right?

The area circled in red is where if you do a recon you will find "Hoi An Junction", but it doesn't show up in any OOB and it isn't visible on the 2D map as an objective. (it's located just east of Kham Duc airbase).
Edit: Ok, I think I found the problem. Note: This is PROBABLY a problem in the other areas where ground troops are not moving forward also because there are LOTS of these objectives that don't have have PARENTIDs assigned. Here is the TACEDIT information on the bad objective:

Note it doesn't have a parentID assigned.

Just one more additional note:Snake Man wrote:Okay thanks, added to the bugs list in first post. Good report, appreciated.
I noticed this is a "nowhere" objective as opposed to a "noname" objective. I've not seen this kind of bug manifest when using the "noname" but apparently the "nowhere" is a different animal and causes this type of behavior.
EDIT: I just looked at the Vietnam wch file and there is no entry for "noname", only "new" and "nowhere". Not sure what this means but I add it if it is useful.
Edit #2: Well, I'm back with another observation. It seems that even in the Korea theater that Allied Force does not make use of any Junction objectives. So I am wondering if that is the source of the problem?

hmm... could it be the same bug in Isreali theater campaigns? there's a lot of duplicated cities and nowhere obj.
it appears fixiing obj bugs is the first step to get campaign working.
PMC ODS1991 campaign is the only campaign that can reach an end as allied capture kuwait city. apparently there's no such obj bug inbetween kuwait city obj and the starting point of allied armies..

I did something similar yesterday. I deleted the link between the village to the northwest and the junction, then recreated the link. I then re-entered the campaign and tried to get the unit to move along the link I recreated it. It would not move along that particular link (it stopped again). But when I redirected it to move directly west to the airbase, it moved no problem. I'm wondering if it is a tile path problem????ccc wrote:can you remove that junction obj, re-link obj network, see if the ground units moving thru that area?

I want to follow this - maybe you are to the real key to why campaigns are not working . . . Israeli Theater has tons of these nonames and nowheres - I am cringing at the thought of having to fix them all somehow but if that is what it takes so be it. . .
