Runtiles for 512x512 tiles

Post by Sherlock »

I've found the current downloadable runtiles doesn't work on images greater than 480 pixels on a side(it uses Alchemy demo exe). Does anyone have the retail version they could "loan" me so I can generate my m, l and t tiles? Or conversely I will zip 'em up and send to you to generate.

thanks.

You should find fixed alchemy from google, I mean there are tons of those web sites that offer "patches" for utils.

I have WinXP SP1 and it appears that Alchemy.exe wont run on it, I believe I managed to get it to run when doing start -> command and trying in there, but from batch file (runtiles.bat) it wont execute.

What am I doing wrong?

are you in a command prompt (DOS) window?
I have Win XP SP2 and have never had a problem.

Yes \windows\system32\command.com is the thingy that runs. In that window alchemy.exe is starting OK. However now when I try to run the runtiles.bat batch file it just says

x was unexpected at this time.

The line where it came from was:

for %x in (h*.pcx) do alchemy -Q ---f -p -Xb256 -Yb256 %x mtiles\%x >nul

Damn do I need to install win98/win2ky just to run runtiles again :)

I think you need to install SP2. I run it just fine with my Win XP SP2 machine. Since you are having problems with AF running multiple theaters (others don't) and now problems with Win XP doing a simple DOS batch run it sounds problematic of your Win XP installation. Just my 0.02 worth.

Snake Man,

You need to start 4DOS.COM before running any batch file. MS-DOS or CMD prompt doesn't support looping as per the runtiles batch files, 4DOS does.

You should find 4DOS.COM in the runtiles download package.

Good point Malc. I assumed he was already doing the 4DOS.COM.
