Regarding links

Post by Malc »

Sorry if it's old ground...

when creating links between objectives, do I need to put in a link between every objective, or just the parents.

As an example, I have about 15 objectives in Panama City alone, most of which have "Panama City" as a parent.

Do I link between every objective, or just "Panama City" to another location?

Thanks in advance...

Its rather difficult to explain without illustration.

You don't need to link all the objectives to all the objectives. Just link into the nearest objective...

Link all objectives that follow a road. city a on road, bridge on road and city b on road. Again, difficult to explain without images to show.

I suggest you take a look at the korea linking. ODS, europe and afghanistan also has linking, but its partial. However it gives you good idea of how the user (me) made links look like.

Thanks for the advice Snake Man... I suppose the obvious answer (as quoted) was a little too obvious for me! :)

I'll look at the others, and take it from there.

PS - Are you still okay for building installers?

Yes, but if someone wants me to make installer, I'd really appreciate if the theater would first be quite tested on "manual install" system.

There is quite much to configure on the InstallShield so I don't want to work on it for theater that will be forgotten in a week.

That's good... but I have no intention of releasing anything until I am happy it all works.

I intend to have a fully tiled terrain (done) with a fully named and linked te_new file, and if I am really lucky, I hope to have at least one working campaign in the package too. Still a few weeks away though...

As for forgetting it next week? I've been dreaming about this since December 2000, so I can't see me dropping it. Sometimes I wish I could, but it just won't go away... :)
