MOD code?

was reading shin's post about the error in game and his comment about geting a MOD code from OPEC
Can i get an explaination for that?
Is it needed for new islands if they are to be relaesed publicly, etc.

You've probably seen them before:

SEB RHS PMC BAS FDF BOH BHD C8X JAM TJP I44 etc.

Unfortunately, you can't register for one right now as OFPEC is down, but BIS supports it, and its worth looking into if you plan on making a lot of mod stuff.

Mine is RAT - Raiden's Armaments Technologies.

Basicly, when ever you make classnames, file names (EXECPT textures), etc, prefix them with your mod code. That way, you won't possibly interfere with someone else's stuff.

If you're planning on only doing an island, or not releasing a bunch of stuff, you don't have to worry about it. It's nice to consider though, and critical for studios.

Actually, since my island has gone over in a pretty big way with the beta testers, I have consdiered doing some "real world" addons, and using my squad as the same group of beta testers. Would this constitute needing a MOD cade? I am sure that even if the addons were originally intended to stay within the squad, they might eventually go poublic, as well as the island.
