Saitek X45 HOTAS
Does anyone have any experience with the X45 HOTAS? I have one but havnt been able to interface with SP3 via the controller software. It works well through the controller panel that is included in the sim, but programmibility is limited to what is already included in the SP. There are 3 modes available with the HOTAS but cannot be utilized without accessing the controller software...any Ideas???

Oh boy, there's a can of worms there.
First, THE site for Saitek support is: http://saitekhelp.simhq.com/
Ron Hunt keeps that site going and its FULL of stuff you need to know.
What I think you have going is the same thing I have on my system. (Oh yeah - post your specs, it'll help figure out the solution, too. Mines a Celeron 433, 320MB RAM, GeForce2 32M.) Try making the SP3 game profile the default. You can do that by right clicking, then setting it as the default. Try that in the game. It probably won't work though.
When it doesn't work, right click on the profile again and click on Configure Game Now. It'll ask if you want to disable the autoconfigure thing. Say yes. Then IMMEDIATELY go to SP3. That's what works for me.
If you have Win2k or XP, give the dhauzimmer drivers a chance.

Re: Saitek X45 HOTAS
Thanks for the info, I am running a AMD 1 gig processer with 512 mb Ram, I have a 4400Ti video card and am running Win 98SE as my OS. I found Rons site last nite, really informative, and will try their programming software. The Saitek Programming software is really user friendly, I just think that it has problems with SPs executable file. Im not sure how the two interface.

T_Rex: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Ron stopped updating that site several months ago. Other obligations just made it impossible for him to continue it. There is a wealth of information there, but it is somewhat outdated.
For the latest information on alternatives to Saitek's software, check out the Saitek support forum at SimHQ. Clicking here should take you there.
I purchased my X45 in January, and started out with Dhauzimmer's drivers and Hazardscript. At that time, Saitek had nothing but basic drivers for my OS (wXP). I've been hooked on this combo ever since

I've got 98se, and actually couldn't get the Dhauzimmer drivers to work for me. Its ok using the SGE stuff, I just have to disable the auto-configure before I start SP3. Pain in the keister, but no big deal.

The big step is to get Dazimers to install properly. Once you done that... most likely you won't see any problems what so ever.
Took me 10 attempts to get Dazimers drivers to be accepted.

Re: Saitek X45 HOTAS
Ive gotten the joystick to work successfully by configureing it manually then opening the sim. The HOTAS is awesome, even got the rotary switch to emulate increase and decrease radar range, really cool. Rons website was very informative, even downloaded a template to keep track of which switch does what...thanks for the help...

Re: Saitek X45 HOTAS
Ihave an X45 with an AMD 850 and Win2K and used Dhauzimmers drivers with Ron Hunts Hazard sript and it works fine with SP2 and 3, as well as tank sims. Making your own script is not that difficult(since I'm an idiot!)so I strongly suggest u try that.
