512k into falcon?

This is a 512k image i came up with in photoshop7 for a water texture. I know i sucks but just for an experiment i'd like to put it in falcon to see what it looks like, can someone explain how or point me to a page which can show me how?

sorry in advance if this is difficult to explain!

Hello,

Well im starting to realize the scope of my question. :D I just started playing with tiling last night! So im completely new at this. I was wondering, where can i learn to successfully modify falcon graphics. Zaggy's tutorial was great, but i need the next step.
I don't understand any other tutorials. Any suggestions?

You need to do the M, L and T tiles from that tile then replace the default ocean tiles with them (cant remember the name hcost000.pcx or something).

Rebuild the terrain with Tinstall and thats basically it.

I can't see the picture, but I reckgon you want to forgetg about 512 pixel images, as the memory problems caused are likely to prevent use...

1.2ghz, 512mb ram, gforce 2 gts. SP3.

I been trialing them in Panama, 1.7Ghz and 896Mb, GF2 MX400, and SP2.

Frame rates are shocking (around 6) and numerous crashes. Using the same textures with 128 as H tiles I been getting 50+ and no crashing at all!?

nope, did the hml and t tiles but falcon wont load. I think my photoshop settings are wrong.

Below is a repost from frugal's.(im lazy:-)

i have a problem though. When i try to load a dogfight over any texture, whether 128 or 512, i hear a beap in the background on the loading mission screen, it seems to keep loading for awhile then it stops(i think). i have not been i falcon with a new texture yet. I think there is a problem with the colors. When i use Terrainview, the above texture looks like a pink tile on crack. I have not been able to get terrainview to see any texture correctly yet. They all look terribly distorted and not even the same color.

Any ideas? i use photoshop 7

Did you run Tinstall to rebuild the terrain and fartiles?

Ok i got it! i had to convert my pic to indexed color before i copied it to the tex dir......don't know why but it works.

Well that blue texture was too cartoonish so i made this one. It looks too repetitive, is there any filter that can eliminate this problem?

Your problem is that the edges don't match each others.

Place a set of 3*3 of the same tile in Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop and change the middle one until it matches to all the surrounding tiles. Then use the middle one for creating the H, M, L and T tiles. Now you can be sure that they match.

Just the Offset filter in photoshop...

Copy the image to TWO layers, top layer offset it by 256pixels up and to the right.. Now you should be able to see the edges (they'll form a cross thru the middle of the image)... Grab the eraser tool, make the tool size about 100pixels with feathered edges, erase the bits of the image where you can see the edges... The Image one the LOWER layer should show thru... U may want to mess with the eraser opacity settings and blend the layers more...

The Flatten the layers so you are back to one layer.. Instant, tileable tile...

This is of course the short of it, but you get the idea... :)
