New Skins from Harald Renner
New Skins from Harald Renner
Here´s what he send me a few minutes ago:
The F-16 is a completely revised version of the "Out OF the box" viper with many smaller and larger modifications. Altogether it looks now more clearly(v.a. if I the i1082.exe use) and has more beautiful colours. The wing lower surface comes of to a F-16 von Ron Nair, three Korean Tailarts has as base the 1182-blank.bmp likewise from Ron Nair. Jagstangs Engine Nozzle is likewise colour adapted and the entire type of cockpit as well as pilot looks now more beautiful (pilot with Visor UP!)
Cordial thanks at CCC - it converted the entire diagrams in f4p.
The other airplanes become in next time part of a new theatre skin package.

You can D/L the skins from here

Re: New Skins from Harald Renner
Since Ron seldom visit this board, i post his words here, my 2c followed later.
quote:Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that Harald Renner never asked permission to use my work until after I raised hell with Merlin for posting Renner’s bogus F-4’s on the F4Community board. Take a good hard look at those F-4’s and you’ll realize he “borrowed?a lot more than the horizontal stabs he gives credit for. Merlin told me he did it for “the good of the community? but I call it “virtual sodomy? Renner did finally ask, but I never responded to his request because of his methods and opportunistic style. While I realize that anything, any of us post to the community becomes public domain, I never expected my work to be used as a doormat.
Renner is very talented and I don’t understand why he has to squat on the work of others when he is fully capable of generating the whole piece by himself. He is either incredibly lazy or is completely without personal ethics. In short…a pariah.
If well-respected members of this community continue to condone and promote this type of activity, then I must revaluate my commitment to the F4 community and the number of hours I devote to it. Viperwear can disappear like a fart in a windstorm. Nuff said.

Re: New Skins from Harald Renner
Well let me give my 2c first..
If I were a skinmaker/modifier
I would probably take Ron or Basil's skins
as a template
Would I ask permision: Hell no I wont
Would I credit them: If I were to remeber were i downloaded my freaking skins I probably would.. yet of most skins I use I don't know the creator.., so I wouldn't be able to credit them..
but then again I don't do skins..
Really alot of fuzz concerning nothing
It is all about having fun and making things the way you want them and share em with others..

Ron shouldn't have made this last remark about leaving the communuty...
Really dissapointing statement..
is he American or something..

Re: New Skins from Harald Renner
my 2c here, and pliz widmkr posted a link on Delphi to guide him here (i dont like post on Delphi).
First, I do those f4p files. Harald did mention he used VW parts in his skins, and I've remined him Ron care much about his IP. When i packing zips, i didnt compare VW and his closely, thus in [Readme.txt] and [Creator] of f4p files i wrote them briefly, somewhat too roughly, even though Harald did tell what part he used in emails. After sending zips back to him, I've noted him again those two text need some modification before submitting to DL sites.
Well, if my careless fault about missing credit, or giving less credit, or not detailing VW contribution, I'd like to present my heartily apologies.
Second, I agree all mod contributions should be respected and well-treated. Ron do own all rights of his creation, and we surely respect and follow his rules to use them. In this case, probably Harald(or we all) mistakenly think he can use VW skin parts if he'd given credit, thus forget submitting request first, a procedure error i think. Thats why he try to make it up after learning the truth. Im not going to hurt Harald, like Merlin said, he did it for the good of community, though didnt do it right in procedure. On the other hand, we cant lose Ron too, and the violent "virtual soXXmy" and "doormat" could come out of extreme agitation, please calm down. If Ron cannot accept our apologies or modification on credit stuff, I suggest DL hosts F4C and Spyder drop those zips( I think Harald wont mind this), thats the best for the hormony of f4 community, and should be a good lesson to all.(hey I know Pumpy learned it a while ago
)
And the last, hope all mod makers learn something, ...f4 mod world cant afford real, serious legal impact!

Re: New Skins from Harald Renner
Hmm..
Well I usually don't post on Delphi too much myself..
(and I don't think I guided Ron here
I don't think he relates my name to this forum.. yet next time I'll use an alias. lol)
Shouldn't have done it this time..
Shouldn't have posted at all on this subject

anyways.. I hope I made clear that I'm not really into this 'askingpermision and giving credit' thing
But that must be because I never released anything..
but ok.. codes are codes and feelings are easily hurt
So I apologize for maybe sounding a bit harsh
and undiplomatic..

Re: New Skins from Harald Renner
That really hit me!!
Those were real hard words. I don´t think that this kind of talking to each other in the f4 community should become usual.
Nevertheless I want to apologize that I hurt Ron´s feelings!
I spend a lot of time making some new skins and I post it - like everyone else - for free, man I don´t take any advantage of it, I just want to enrich the f4 community!
Yes I took parts of Ron´s F-4 horizontal stabs and the exhaust section. And I used three times his 1182-blank.bmp tailart (I didn´t wipe out "Viperwear", so everybody can see it is HIS artwork!). I never wanted to steal Ron´s intellectual property. And I don´t want to sell his artwork as mine - REALLY NOT.
But I have to admit that I was to fast in releasing my skins to the public - I should have spoken to him earlier. I did it later on - but I think a little too late. I never got an answer.
To end this discussion: I will draw new skins in the future - and if Spyder and Merlin do not refuse to post the skins, the are available for everyone who is iterested in - but I will never take anyones artwork again - for sure!
Best regards
Harald Renner

Hello all!
I can understand Ron's feeling, but he was a bit harsh... maybe this is why his post got deleted (or he deleted it himself) at Delphi.
Skinmaking does take a lot of effort and time. It's like an addiction. I personally either don't do any skins at all for some tme - or I can't stop until I have done everything I had in mind
I'm sure Renner didn't want to hurt anybody. I hope he'll continue developing his own, new skins
Go, go!
