And LODEditor imports 3ds max files, right?

True on the first one.
I don't think Gmax can be exported or saved as a 3DS file
But I'm not 100% on this.

Nope, you can import 3ds, or dxf format np - works well, but export to p3d format only which dont work - tried it repeatedly - a plugin to go to a quake mdl format is available - but once again cant get it working 100%

Wont be around next week - but after that will give you an EASY way to create models and into LOD format using freeware tools..

what that means? a total solution to create structured LOD models?

i've been working on falcon4 3d models for 3 more years, haven't heard a solution like that.

Gmax is a powerfull tool for 3d modelling, is a reduced version of 3D Studio MAX, but,of cource, it DOSEN'T export/save in 3ds. IF it can export in 3ds , why someone has to buy 3DSmax, instead of using a similar tool for free?

LE can only import P3D files from Jane's USAF, the P3D format comes from Israeli software company Pixel - means you can import Jane's USAF models as raw lods.

the other P3D format comes from a university media lab, a totally different thing, it won't work with LE.

Alright, i found the link - convert gmax model into 3ds format - is doable. then you can convert it into LOD format with LE.
