Since no TP3 skins available, got to find something different.
This texture came from Swedish modeler, photo of his excellent leopard2 tank. so, this one is "photorealistic" too Image

LE is satisfactory, and keeps getting better.
Imagination is liberated. this one, as serious fans heard from some msg board talk, some old a/c wont produce vertex on wing roots. fixed, though a bit rough.

MiG-15 looks nice so far... question about AIM-9X: Does that thing actually have those winglets on the nose? I thought they have been removed...?

Models are nice, but those avionics/displays are piece of ****, and the cockpits look like plastic models... Image

one more toy, for TRT, turret/chiasis/gun barrel/texture tweaked. Cant tolerate all SPGs share the same shape! Image

The model of the AIM-9X is made after the info i found on the FAS website.
The canards on the older sidewinders was removed, and replaced by fixed wings.

WOW, ccc all of your toys are excelent, i like the tank texture.
About the vortex (if its called like that, im not sure), thats cool and i was talking with Widow yesterday about that, but i was wondering if its possible to do it with white smoke, something like the F-4 when goes to postcombution, the black smoke disapear (i suppose this require programing).
Im also doing some stuff, although its just for fun, nothing serious yet, ive been messing around with the F5 to make the F-105 thunderchief, here is a pic.

Ive done the half of the airplane and the engine air capture, i will do something to joing the to engines and then put the pilons.
But... as i said nothing serious, its smaller than the real size.

you know, i used to test many samples for better skins, photos always the best.
Hope i can get all ground vehicles skinned in such texture, totally Photorealistic!! Image

About contrail thing, i've considered that, but white smoke need SC to work.

For a serious project, read the thread in Vnam board, using good 3 side line drawings to build a full scale one!

Its a shame we cant have that white smoke yet, it would be very cool at high G's, anyway, in one week no more code editing.
About the F105, i did it with the drawline, although i didnt use the proccess that you explained in the vnam forum.

This time im gonna use it, if i get good results i maybe start something serious.

1.simple tweak to round out t55's blocky turret.
2.re-shape and re-map of 2S1/M1974. cant tolerate all russian SPG use the same shape!

well, that t55 is very cool, althogh it remembers me to the M48, and the 2S1..., isnt the gun to big???.

And the F105, I followed your instructions and although its still very early i have done this, only have to retexture and add the pilons in the right place.

A last question, why the calculate normal buton works sometimes and with some models?

Well, im using version 1.97, im not sure if this one is the lastest one, but when i hit the calculate normal buton it doesnt make anything, no change, the normals keeps in the same situation.

The above shoot is an old one, believe me, now is much better, with the cockpit better and im making a new texture.

The look thru bug can be fixed in my current Mac LE. Simply adding a few splits in there and it will look fine. I believe Fred has a version on the PC that can do that also but it is beta only.

We are both working on a major rewrite of LE and it is taking shape real nice. You should have total control over everything. Add/Delete nodes, move nodes, add/delete vectors, add vertices etc. Should really open up the editing world!

nothing special, just polish mig21.
1. change color of nose cone.
2. enlarge air-intake, more close to MF model.
3. enlarge dorsal fairing to MF model.
4. tweak front end of canopy shape, less blocky.

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL that MiG-15/17 is AWESOME!!!!

And the best thing is.. The North Korean Air Force STILL operating the J-5/MiG-17! And so does the Chinese Air Force! According to the FAS site, North Korea should have atleast 310 operational MiG-15/17 aircraft.

And a lot of campaigns can benefit from this little aircraft.. Vietnam and several other campaigns.

Man I can't wait to modify my campaigns to have this new J-5 in it!!

Well, Basil has done that VNAF jungle camo for a while, once you got mig15 lod, you can have that skin. Currently available in Theater Skin Pack.

Come to think of it.. the J-5 doesn't carry any missiles does it? The FAS site only lists cannons as A2A weapons.

Well just thought I'd ask it.. maybe I missed some information. It looks rather cool, a MiG-15 with missiles... that would have scared the average F-86 driver shitless over Korea. Image

Question, the "Pylon fix" that allowed for "double weapon types on pylons" such as 2x AIM-9 and a MK84 on the same pylon.... well that fix doesn't work when you're using the new 3D models from Ripper for example.

Is there anything the LOD Editor can change? Can we make seperate weapon racks for aircraft? Because rightnot it seems that Falcon 4.0 uses the default F-16 racks for all aircraft... which looks very weird on the F-4E for example where the "bombs are dragging over the ground".

Sure. just build a new pylon shape will do.
and set up related files that support it.

say, it could take quite a while to complete modeling every part for a new a/c. so, i recommend modeling in three phase:

1. we build acceptable, scale-correct models. so theaters could start to roll.
2. we upgrade to better models with more DOF/Switch node features.
3. We finally build models better than Viper.

I just hope the guys at G2 won't see all these new 3D models and think........"hot damn, Falcon 4.0 is starting to look GOOD! Now we MUST not allow this, or people won't buy Falcon V.".

Afterall, they own the license.. they can break their word anytime they want and completely outlaw ANY or ALL modifications to Falcon 4.0.
