Any Success With SP3 DirectX Voice Comms?
Hi all,
Has anyone had success ingame using the DirectX 8.1 voice comms. A few of us have been trying for days now without success.
All involved have firewalls but have disabled them. Each of us have run the Voice Setup.exe file and configured the mike(s) and have also ensured that the person with the most bandwidth is hosting on IP 0.0.0.0
Everything is set as the manual recommends.
We are confused? Any ideas?

Re: Any Success With SP3 DirectX Voice Comms?
The internal voice comms works perfect. we'er adopting it as standard for our squad.
1. Make sure you have enabeld enabel voice in F4patch.
2. Run the voicesetup.exe
3. Check your FalconSp.cfg file that you have the following lines:
// Enable Voice Communications
set g_bVoiceCom 1
set g_svoicehostip ""
Now when you connect in Falcon you should be abel to talk to each other.
Mind that you have to use F1 and F2 to transmitt in UI (User Interface)
alt 1 and 2 in 3D world.
If your comms are choppy, try lowering your bandiwidth in your shortcut. (Internal voice uses less BW then RW... 3kb)
The ports that Internal voice uses is:
Client port 2937
Server port 2936
Also mind that is.. you in dogfight and in diffrent teams.. you have to transmitt on F2, also if one of you is in a campain and the rest in the main lobby... F2 to transmitt.
It can be hard to hear each other due to the sound settings.
There fore... leave the Mic and volyme setting when running the voicesetup to max.
Also lower the ingame sound by 50%
If you do this it most work.
We have almost 200 members and it all worked for them

Re: Any Success With SP3 DirectX Voice Comms?
Thanks for the reply Swede.
We have tried everything you have listed verbatim and still no joy.
We are trying it on fresh F4 installs with fresh SP3 installs on top of that (and of course 1.08us).
In addition we are all running DirectX 8.1, with our firewalls either disabled or not even running.
Admittedly we were missing the line
set g_svoicehostip ""
under the voice comms activation.
Also Voice Comms are enabled in SP3 config and also in UI under the Settings -> Sound tab.
We are trying to host on 0.0.0.0 which is as recommended in the doco. And so far have only succeeded in CTD's on occasion when pressing F1 to talk.
This is crazy and I would have thought straight forward.
By the way there are several of us and we have all tried hosting with the same results.

hmm.. just one thing.
Have you been useing Roger wilco or battlecomms without problem?
I'm guessing that something most be wrong with the soundcard (ie no-duplex) or a drivers issue.
Please confirm

Nope, all works fine with either RW of Battle Com. We got it to work today, but only from one side and then the sound was terrible. I could here Moose, he could not here me and Blade couldn't here anything at all. We just tried RW and BC right after with no problems at all.
We all 3 checked (and double checked) the settings, everything looks it should.

On some systems it helped by lowering the sound acceleration 1-2 steps in the DXdiag.

Re: Any Success With SP3 DirectX Voice Comms?
Ok, we tried that too, still no go. All we get is a very shopped, paused sound.
If "hello" would be normal then we now get "h e l l o" and even then it's hard to understand.
Again we changed to Battle Comm and all went nice (mmm except for a CTD when trying to run BC after F4, LOL).
I double checked the settings again + the doc and we should be on par with everything.
Crappy stuff if you ask me...
Also, firewall was disabled during these trials.
Any other clues?
