A-16 Attack Variant
Hey guys. Has anyone of you heard about the F/A-16 Model. This aeroplane was used during ODS as a strike variant. I read somewhere that this variant was an F-16 with structural modifications to be like the A-10. It had similarities with the A-10 such as its fearsome gun, colour, etc. I have a picture of the bird, so if anyone is interester in designing it, can e-mail me at butcher_ss@hotmail.com and include his e-mail to send the photo. Also the net should provide further information. However I can't remember the site I found the info from.

Re: A-16 Attack Variant
The a/c u are thinking about is probably the GD funded A-16 demonstrator (was painted in a euro one green camo), and was basically an F-16A with additonal capabilities in the A2G arena... The features planned, I THINK, evebtually found there way into Blk 30 and greater a/c... The Blk 40/42 a/c basically was a ground-pounder...
The Gun Pods u speak of were fitted on center line of F-16A/B's that were replacing A-10's going into storage (which were later brought BACK into service)... The Units that received these a/c were tasked with the anti-armour role of the A-10... The gun pods and the a/c in that mission, didnt last very long... I cant remember if they were deployed in ODS...

Re: A-16 Attack Variant
I remember specifically that were indeed used during ODS but I think they were withdrawn shortly after they took action because the results were not as expected. And the picture I have describes the model you said so it's probably it. I think that it would make a very good addition to the campaigns, adding an attack variant with the weaponry it can carry.quote:Originally posted by Zaggy:

Hi Butcher_ss,
Here is a link to a site with info on the A16 / FA16 versions and if you go back to its home page it lists most of the diffrent F16 models.
