Re: New 3d toys? XI
Ok, here is the ACMI, maybe someone wanna check it
http://www.geocities.com/nevalpha/Thuds.html
And... could anyone tell me how to make an AVI from an ACMI???
That would be cool to make a small video of a nevada flight
BTW, the ACMI is at Korea, seoul airbase, so you must have Korea theater selected

Re: New 3d toys? XI
well, ccc, the tank is very cool but i still think you should move the (0,0,0) to the center of the fuel tank, its in the back right now.

Re: New 3d toys? XI
Honestly, this fuel tank should be used with its own pylon. the attach point is exactly the real thing, protruding more in the front, not in the middle.quote:Originally posted by Com_gp:

btw, can i have another shot? the USN fusiform central fuel tank? you probably need to add one more pylon for this.

Re: New 3d toys? XI
YEEES!! THANX ComGP! (hehe you could use Harald Renner's USN "showtime100" skin for this shot..availabe at f4C ).
so both tank mods are ready!
and an ideal shot is loading a phantom with "two sausage and one cigar", two wing tanks and one central tank! i seldom see photo with three cigar tanks there
btw, the final polishing will be "pitch down 1-2 degree along long axis of central tank", for the sake of TRT(tm)!

Re: New 3d toys? XI
Out of curiousity, and maybe to provoke someone into doing it *hint, hint*, I assume its possible to make more detailed aircraft skins, by (for example) doubling the skin resolutions? Sure the textures would have to be remapped (wouldnt they?), but is there any other limitation, such as a maximum pixel by pixel skin size???
Increasing the detail on the models (even if the models themselves stay fairly basic), could breathe even more life and longevity into F4.
And i still wanna know about those Trees ASAP...

Re: New 3d toys? XI
Surely its doable to double, or triple textures for any a/c shape. AFAIK, somebody is working on that.quote:Originally posted by Zaggy:

the max size of a single texture is 256x256 pixel. 512 or above wont work. but with more texture, the details will be much sharper.
frankly, i dunno if it deserve to upgrade these shapes, ComGP shows us a new a/c could be done from scratch, and it could be easier to upgrade something in this way.

Re: New 3d toys? XI
Well, how about both??? Better shape AND sharper skins??? ComGP can redo the models with more detail and change the texture maps so we can have nicer SHAPED and nicer LOOKING models...
Who needs JFA-18E???

Re: New 3d toys? XI
Some of the aircraft models are being redone, and texture mapping to go along with it. I know CCC had started on the Mig-29 and the Su-27 but only on the 1st LOD. I'm looking at the Harrier and F/A-18 skins. The A-10 is being totally redone. There are several others too, but like so many things this is going to take some time.
IMHO many of the aircraft are textured OK, but need new tail art. That's what the F/A-18 is going to get - 5 or 6 squadrons! ... but only for eF 1.10 as the squadron texturesets are hard-coded and were only changed in eF 1.10.

Great job as usual!
Question: is it possible to change the "square" wheels to something more... that looks like a wheel?

Re: New 3d toys? XI
well, i should visit TSH everyday!
Seems our old friends do great job on Hornet side instead of Falcon
very nice U2/C160/SE/M2k/Rafale, and it seems the conversion is flawless, from those shots.
Wnat U2/TR1? 3ds model could be done easily by many modelers, but the conversion to lod is up to genius. I've printed and read latest lod Doc, still cant get thru some part.
hmm..i always like to "borrow" some models for F4, Team Super Hornet's mod is always my target, regretfully, no chance.
However, that inspired me, Dragon, could you convert Jane's F/A18's J3D(?) format into LE? If yes, yeah, we could have some nice ship and a/c, instead of searching 3d models sites on the net. After all, sim models are mostly optimized for its own use!
