pic deleted.

Na, its a test sample using LODeditor!
not a serious project but, wow, very easy to modify this aim54 shape into a very rough new shape!

looks great

I just installed LE myself...boy it seems complicated...but then again I should read the manuals firts I gues... Image

as I only have been busy on the terrainfiles
and know my way there quite well.I wanna spend a few days on LE just to see what it can do..(or what I can do with it)

(ccc...could you give me some hints on wich ac I should alter in order to get an EF2000)

and another question...I'm thinking to remove the nightlighting of the tiles and replace them by small lighting objects
or by redrawing builing textures with lighting....
....
do you got any pointers for me
I am fairly new to proggies like f4browse lodeditor lodbrowse...I understand it posssible...yet were do I start...

I will give more info on what I would want later..I hope you can help me

I'd like to help, the truth is, im learning too.
from what i know, Dragon's Mac version is much more advance than PC version. it means, modelers could do better job with much less effort.

the current LE need some basic 3d modeling and spatial perspection. also i need PAPER and PENCIL for notes, then keep calculate and key-in figures. even though, LE is much much more easier than Ripper's byte-editing!

frankly, i plan to work on very simple items at this momenet, like ammos. If you are not ready to jump into 3d modeling, better hold till newer version LE available! are you ready? Image

well my goals are set very simple

the EF2000...should wait for now...lol

yet what I want are litlle flat square objects
with textures that light up in the dark
this to replace the terrainlightining

I need info on:

- wich colors to use on those textures and what color of lightining they give.
-how falcon handles lighting in textures
is this related to objects or is it just a paletta isue of the textures

Also 1 more thing Death119 wants pyramids
and I think he shoould have them..
the shape wont be to much of a problem...yet
are the textures limited..I mean can we have sandcolored textures for it

staring blind into the dark..seeing dots before my eyes..lol

As for pyramind, i'll check that.

and new shot here, a more serious one, German Komoran ASM in correct diamension.

wow, this typhoon is cool!
i mean, in 80-90% of aircombat you wont tell the differences from the most detailed one!

of course, we still want a perfect shape at last Image

Don, here you are

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/F4LE

note: serious modeling is no easy thing.
that Kormoran ASM got 56 vertice to edit, i edit them one by one, for matching the real thing. For a perfet a/c, you can image how many vertices to edit, 1000-2000!!

comgp,
very nice ingame shot! so quick you add a skin Image
like what i said, in 90% aircombat your typhoon is good enough, right? just add some nationality roundels and few more pylons slot, lets call it "project Typhoon, phase I"
hehe..how about challenge yourself, build a typhoon out of F16 shape? Image Image

Re: new 3d toys?

well, all i can say is that i have million of problems with this model, first of all, theres no freeking way to add more vertex what means that i dont have any idea of how to make the engine air capture.
Second, i hope the guys who are doing this great utility to let move the vertex with the mouse in the next version, and third I DONT KNOW WHY, the freeking model mest up when i was playing arround with pilons, i know this is a beta, so in my opinion its gonna be imposible to get really detailled models like the F16 until we have the 3ds converter from julian or any other utility comes out, well, anyway, we can do stuff like weapons and stuff like that at least.
Other thing, im gonna try to make this (bad) EF2000 f4patch compatible to give it to you although i still think that is nothing serious, and its just one LOD, when you go further...

Your speculation that the Mac version is "much more advanced" than the PC version is inaccurate. The only difference between the 2 versions is that Rick added 3-D textured and shaded view. The PC version has some enhancement in the node texture editing window that the Mac version does not have, yet.

Ok, now this shape is done, AS37 ARM.(though it looks like Komoran ASM, the dimension is exact as The Real Thing(tm), a serious project!)

God knows which theater could use it but, LOD1 and LOD2 done. Image

I have new models already and some talks with eteam for hovering. Lets see what future will bring with this G2 thing, if eteam can't work, then there's no point working on it i suppose Image

CCC,
Thanx for the link buddy - although it refused to recognise the URL, but the v1.96 just came out and I picked that up off the same site today (gonna start playing with that in a min!)
Com-GP: Nice Typhoon dude, very, very impressive, especially by any of my standards!
WidowMaker: Love the little touch with the F4 wings - nice!
Just for everyone's thoughts: the F16-XL being an experimental aircraft, we can see the photograph shows the wings with individual silhouettes and technological experiments on each, yet the line drawing shows identical silhouettes - I guess if anyone went for modellling that they would follow the line drawing?!

Hey guys, been away a while but see you are getting involved. Just a few comments:

1. At first glance, the program can be a bit complicated. This is not by design but rather by the structure of the LOD file. However, the more you use it, the better and quicker you get! Plus, Fred and Myself will continue to add functions that make it easier. Remember, I have been the only one using it up until Fred released a beta version so we are only now getting a true beta test.

2. As to the capabilities of this program, well, I created the B-2 model from scratch and it wasnt too diffuclt. Yes, you need to know the LOD structure inside and out but it can be done rather easily. A 3Ds converter would be the ideal method in the long run.

3. Mac vs. PC! Funny how this topic somehow always surfaces. The main difference is that my LE is integrated into my Browser program. If you take Julians Browers and combine it to Freds LE, then you have what I have. Concerning the LE portion, Fred is correct. I have complete 3D viewing with shading and texturing which is wonderful! However, Fred has some nice options that I dont have. For the most part, the programs function identically except in cases of new functions that I am working on. Once I get them ironed out, Fred incorporates them (and vice-versa of course)

4. Adding deleting verts. This has been discussed many times. Anytime you add or delete verts, change poly types, etc., you change the node length. Then everything needs to be updated and managed. Very difficult task that is not part of either of our LE's at this time. The good news is I am about half way through getting it done right so when we finally get the changes in place, you will have total control of verts, node types, node orders, etc. Just give is some time.
