Hi,

After running the installer, I had to run eF4PTinstall.exe by hand to generate the terrain.
Thanks god I had it on my hd. It wasn't put in F4SP-folder by the installer.

Hmm works ok for me here. If not too much trouble, can you try few uninstall - reboot - install procedures please.

Also note that eF4PTinstall.exe is NOT used, it should install SPTinstall.exe so if thats on your dir, then all is ok.

Good guestion!

Delete the following:
artdesstorm
Campaign\DesStorm
terrdata\desstorm
terrdata\theaterdefinition\desstorm.*

Those are directories, except theaterdefinition means the two files desstorm.tga and desstorm.tdf

Then edit (yeah sorry about that) theater.lst file in falcon dir and remove the desstorm.tdf line. That file is pure text file and you can open it with any text editor.

However... generally I'd say none of these activities are necessary - but as you guys have learned in the falcon scene, its better to do full reinstall to get things working

Its up to you, but you might wonder every CTD that whether its sucky ODS or messed up install. Hehe

unfortunately i have some bad news. When i choose the theater in SP2 Build 316 and click on OK i only get a "ding". No error no CTD and now new UI.

I cannot switch to ODS in PR4

any hint?

No. The single exe installer is shipped with SPTinstall.exe which should be run IF and ONLY IF the installer do not run the lenghty terrain rebuild phase (some people have reported this).

So if your terrdata\desstorm\terrain is about 30-40mb, then you need to run it, if your terrain dir is 655mb (about) then all is OK.

Can you tell me the "uninstall" method you used for the previous beta version or did you just overwrite with the new exe installer?

If you did overwrite - I suggest you uninstall the new beta preview #4 from control panel -> add/remove programs and Falcon 4.0 SP2 Desert Storm and then manually delete the directories I listed earlier in this area.

If you did the directory deletion before single exe installer... uhm I'd go to look into the terrdata\desstorm\terrain dir and validate that there are in fact over 650mb worth of falcone files, thats the closest thing to check.

Let me know how it turns out.

i can confirm that the installer took around 1 - 2 minutes to complete. No terrain building was done and i had to copy the "eF4PTinstall.exe" manually into my falcon directory. btw. i am missing thee sptinstall.exe you mentioned

Hi All,

New here and having a little trouble. DL the new installer and added a new SP2a to the Falcon partition. On first install try failed to low disk space. Quit install and installed a new version of SP2a to another HD partition with lots of space. Deleated the old F4 SP2a/ODS folder. Set the new SP2a in reg and attempted to run ODS installer. Installer says ODS not in default location do I want to try another location? I have broused to new and main SP2a locations with no luck I just get the same messsage. I even removed the ODS info from the reg with no luck still get the same message. Thanks in advance.

Some comments about the 3D objects in the beta. I think they are placed to randomly, the building types don't "fit in".

I guess there is a plan to fix this. The problem is a general one.

And guess why? because they are korean 3d objects. There is no edited ground objectives at this point in falcon 4.

It installed flawlessly, and no stuttering this time. So far it's working real good, airbases are level, sky gets filled with Buffs, F-14's ect...campaign is working.

Off of the problem with not having sptinstall in the directory i dont have it either when i install it...........new problem: I installed ODS and then started F4 went to the UI and it wasnt there. i then completely reinstalled everything and it still wouldnt show up...any idea what the problem is?

Do you have spaces in your falcon path name?

Use text editor like notepad for example and open the theater.lst file, make sure there are line:
terrdata\theaterdefinition\DesStorm.tdf
That should fix your theater not showing up error.

And spaces in the path names... well all I can say is please reinstall using standard non space'd names. My preferance currently is pure and simple...

Got a CTD when in campaign. Occured when i changed views from normal to wide view pit. I tried again and hung. Using 20324 build. Also switched back to korea and a was fine other than a ctd on exit. Heres the crashlog

I got a small problem guys, i went to reinstall ODS, and realized that i didnt uninstall it the last time, (i usually remove the folders and registry and copy my 108us install from a cd). Well the problem is its looking for the old copy of ods to get rid of, but its not there. How can i get the installer to install ods instead of wanting to remove it?

Same instructions apply for ODS that I told KBMIL for Europe

Start -> Run -> Regedit

CTRL-F search for "sp 2 desert storm" and delete all entries you find, reboot and everything should work.
