Bush Junior didn't even know how to spell Nam or find it on the map. He has never been there, not as a F-102 fighterpilot anyway.

Didn't he 'sat out' the war with the Texas ANG?

I think Chuck Yeager said it was the only jet he didn't really like to fly. He felt it was very unstable and unforgiving. There's one on a stick, at the Edmonton City Center Airport a few miles from here. That's one damn big bird to have such relatvely tiny wings... It sounds challanging.

yeah, the pilots hated the voodoo, because it could easily get out of control with it's pitch up problems.

They used to have RF-101s at Shaw AFB back in the '60s, and they have one out front by the main gate next to a RF-4C and a RB-66. The 363rd TRW flew some historic missions over Cuba back during the Cuban missile crisis (1962). They flew low and very fast! This was because the Cubans could shoot down the U-2 with the SA-2.

Seem to recall at least on Voodoo was lost over SE Asia. Fast bird, though not like the Vigilante. The F-100 reportedly was used in the first Iron Hand strikes up north, can't remember if any were lost but probably so. Yeah that Bush thing was just fantasy, or perhaps "historical novel/magical-realism" material. The question is, can he NOW spell Nam or find it on the map? The F-102 was tasked with airbase defence. Reportedly the one lost to a MiG-21 fell in the DMZ. Why would an F-102 be so far north or a MiG-21 so far south?

I think more than a few RF-101 Voodoos were lost up north. I also remember reading something similar about an F102(106?) shoot-down.

Now that you've done the obvious recon plane, (the RF-101 Voodoo,) I'd like to point out that we have a carrier group in the Tonkin gulf. I don't want to seem ungrateful, but How about the RA-5C Vigilante?

Hamm,

Obviously you are a Vnam hard-core too Image
I used to build plastic models, surely RA5C IS included.
I'll go vacation in next few weeks, so wont do any modeling for a while.
Hehe, for Vnam, I got a loooooong list,
Since you point out this one, how about
A3/B66, F111B, A37, O1, O2, E1, S2, firebee UAV? Image Image

wellllll... I wanted to ask if WE could get the atc features to function as FAC's (forward air controllers) for strike packages... until then, I don't think there's much point in the bird-dogs and broncos...
