Help with Dem2L?

Post by Foxtrot »

Am I suuposed to get distorted lines on the left side of the map? I just started this today. So bear with me. Looks like someone stretched the map. Any clue on how to get rid of this. I used int16 should it be int32?
Help. Oh please help me.

Please do not mistake me for an expert, but I think I can help. Image

When I've used this on a map way north, both sides were kinda stretched. I suggest starting with a greater area. Is the right side of your map basically water or terrain that doesn't have many variations?

Basically, by making your DEM map bigger than you need, you can move the "L" map around so as not to get the streaking.

I think.

No, thats because you applied the spherical converter to excatly the same sized map it will be creating.

Ok that sounds like right? Wrong Image

As it fixes the earths curvature, you need to download slightly larger DEM data than 10 by 10 degrees. This way you have some space to move around in the dem data file.

Ahh I see. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the quick help. One more question. i don't see a map in the map window. I have to save and look at in my paint prog. Got a fix for that? Or is that also because of the map size?
