Hello, fellows!
I have some doubhts on terrain, and i'm gonna try and list them.
1.1: If i want to make a "hi rez" terrain, do i have to download a bigger DEM?
1.1.1: Can i make a "hi rex" terrain, in 256×256 size (4 times bigger, and yet with hi rex)
1.2: How should i proceed to convert a terrain?
I have the latest Dem2_2_L2 and the terrains are converted and some aberrations show up (in the whole map), like a hiss.
1.4: When i use Codec's PERLs, they are converted to L5 and O5. How should i procceed, too?
Is there a "Dedicated for Lammers, Step-by-Step" manual?
LOL
Thanks in advancE!

DEM2L2 is the correct util to convert DEM data to L2.quote:Originally posted by SHINOBI:

Hmm I dont quite follow you here, but other than L2 / O2 files are created by the F4PTinstall terrain rebuilder util. It comes with all the new theaters and should be available in our downloads section (let me know if you cannot find it).quote:1.4: When i use Codec's PERLs, they are converted to L5 and O5. Dunno if its LAMMAS or for LAMMERS (sorry inside joke) but you might check out my latest post on the terrains forum...quote:Is there a "Dedicated for Lammers, Step-by-Step" manual?

Re: Some doubhts
check out my latest post on the terrains forum...
Yep, i was reading it some days ago.
I'd like to know how I should procceed to convert DEM datas.
I open the HDR with DEM2L2, click on "Transform", then "Save L_" (basically)?
I mean, that's it?
Or when i try to use Codec's PERLs, i go to DOS, go to the folder where dem2lf.pl is placed and type: "perl dem2lf XXXXXX.bin" - correct?! Then i get "XXXXXX.L5" and "O5".
(?!)

Dont use them, they are old technology. DEM2L2 is the way to make terrains now.quote:Or when i try to use Codec's PERLs, i go to DOS, go to the folder where dem2lf.pl is placed and type: "perl dem2lf XXXXXX.bin" - correct?! Then i get "XXXXXX.L5" and "O5".

Re: Some doubhts
The funniest thing is that I don't see a map on the "Dem2L Map" (like a preview) - it's blank! It's completly white! I see only white and a red square.
But i think i found it!
Oh, God, how dumb i am...
I was downloading "int32" not 16.
Guess this is it!
Thanks man, gonna 're-download' and post results.

Shinobi,
When you download the theater data and fire up DEM2L you should see a terrain map of the area that you are about to transform.

Re: Some doubhts
Yeah, I saw on the 'new' tutorial.
The problem is: I fired Dem2L2, then selected my HDR and it DIDN NOT show up on the 'preview' window!
Only a red square, showing the area that'll be converted. So i have to GUESS if it's correct.
I downloaded again a new region, in "int16" and it converted fine, but didn't show up on the preview screen.
It's wierd...
