DEML2v1.0

Post by Guest »

Tried it but it crashes everytime.
Both on Win98SE as ME

Loaded .hdr
pressed transform and crash

The map is blue with a few brown dots prior pressing transorm

should I download another *.bin file in int32
format as to int16 as I did up to now

It's probably me doing something wrong, I surely hope so.

Found answer:
to my own question,looking pretty stupid here)

This where I started of with:
mydata.bin
and
mydata.hdr =>>

file_title = Subset of GLOBE DEM Data
data_type = raster
grid_cell_registration = center
map_projection = Lat/Lon
left_map_x = -24.00000006240
right_map_x = -13.99999992240
upper_map_y = 70.00000000800
lower_map_y = 59.99999994000
number_of_rows = 1200
number_of_columns = 1200
grid_size = 0.00833333333
elev_m_unit = meters
elev_m_min = 1
elev_m_max = 2005
elev_m_missing_flag = -500
number_of_display_colors = 256

You have to change file_title into:

file_title = mydata

and it shows a beatifull map

Alot af thanx to
Miran "Warlord" Klemenc
and ofcourse for Snakeman for bringing it to us.

Miran, could you make 128x128 and 256x256 possible ?

I also foun that you program does not like long folder names. When I moved it to root + one folder level, it worked. It's not in the readme !! fix ?

Sure, I`ll take a look at it.
I`ll try:
- add additional windows message handlers
- check filename lengths
- 128 and 256 maps

Another request, Miran !

I got to click hundreds of times to move the center of the map to the right position, and since only the last loaded e00 file is generated to tdf file, I've earned several mileage point with that little thing. Drainage data for western russia has been loading for 18 hours, and we are still not there......

Something really needs to be done with this loading time, its simply not acceptable to build something so long.

Warlord, any ideas how to build faster code for TDF generating?

How come the Perl scripts create the TDF files within seconds while DEM2L2 takes AGES? Just curious, different parser perhaps?

I am only getting the Road TDF files from the DEM_L2. I have now made the Cuba and Florida TDF files for the map I am making. The cities are not showing along with the Airports. Any ideas?
Thanks,
G

Well I've been using Dem2LF on Iceland
a few days ago
and one should only load 1 *.ee0 at a time
and transform/safe it
reload the map (I also reload Dem2lf, cause I got really anxious)
i'll make the Terain bitmap for TE and Campaign with TV
The dogfightmap will be made by Dem2LF.exe

Widowmaker:
I have changed the names of the eoo. files to Florida-Road.e00 etc, and the Cuba e00 files to Cuba-Road.e00 etc, and I am still not getting a load in the DEM_L2. I loaded each file individually, ran the transform and then loaded the City.e00 and so on, and no TDF files.

Are the names case sensitive? Should it be cuba-road.e00, or road-cuba.e00, or Cuba-Road.e00, or CUBA-ROAD.E00, or ROAD-CUBA.e00.

I do have two TDF files for roads, one for Cuba and one for Florida, so the last 13 days have not been wasted. I am going to drive my Tonka trucks on them if nothing else. Image

Gordo, make sure your path is very short (notmore than 32 ? characters ?). Put the program on a folder close to root. I don't know wich OS you're on, but I have problems with NT.

I wondered if you would mind being mentioned in theater credits(for tool development).

I remember Warlord telling me something about tile size for DEM2L2 spherical converter. It defaults to 0.2500 but what I remember (I already deleted that email) it was mentioned to be something like 0.2700 in reality... hmm

Does anyone have more details on this?

well i didn't get the post....lol

did he mean that it becomes 0.2700 in the conversion and it should be .o.2500

or does he mean that the default 0.2500 is not realistic and should be 0.2700 in Falcon4

I *think* it was that we should use 0.2700 as tile size. But like I said, cant remember and the email where this was discussed is now gone.

btw another thing, does DEM2L2 make the coast.TDF at all?

0.2500 - the default DEM_2_L2 offers.
