I read in the Desert Storm posts that TE and Campaign don't work for 4096*4096 maps
is this also the case with 2048*2048 maps???

Well actually they do work... kind of.

I've made 20 by 20 degree map with 2048 x 2048 resolution TE_NEW.TAC file which works. The catch is that F4 engine only shows the 1024 x 1024 resolution objects in the TE/Campaign map.

I'll look into it myself.
To get a clearer picture of what you are describing.

Sounds like a problem that could be easily overcome by a good hex editor (wich I,m not).

Is this the same problem as in the 4096*4096 map or is the campaign/TE not running at all at this resolution.

Yes also 4096 x 4096 goes beyond the map size of default 1024.

Most likely this problem is solved with eRazor fix, not on the 1.0799 of course but in the future version(s).

I'm just waiting for the definitive answer "yes" from Julian onions so I can start to build Operation Desert Storm (havent decided yet if its gonna be the whopping 40 by 40 dem) and to convert Vietnam into the 20 by 20 dem size.

The fact is that the terrain itself is working 100%

You can fly over it yet only in the
1024-1024 segment not in
the other three sectors, you cannot select them in dogfight and you can't fly to them ingame(starting off in the first section) either way F4 CTD's
This even with no object in the instant.cam
am I doing something wrong

I've replaced theater.map with the 128 version.
and changed within instant.cam (aswell in te_new.tac) the ThrX/ThrY to 2048

You can use the default Korean instant.cam for quick fly around in your large terrain. Thats what I do.

Btw anyone remembers the mrsteen 1200knots cheater, its pilotname to "mrsteen" and flight model to novice, or what?

Flight model simplified

New pilot => mrsteen
gravity to zero you can fligh right to the moon.

New pilot =>mrsteedX (X=0-4)
different helicopters incuding there (weird flight models).
use only in Instant Action or dogfight.


Default Korean instant.cam you say,
I'll give it a try.

I tried the instant.cam from Korea

It doesn't really work, that is I can't go to a particular place on the map.


How can a 10*10 map lateron be converted into a 20*20 map as you are considering with Vietnam???

Well I'm hoping to get nice importer for TerrainView, so I can export the whole 64 segment map and import it to the middle of 128 segment map :)

We'll see what our coder can come up with.

Ok, its possible now. Download latest TerrainView v1.48 and export whole 64 segment map. Load 128 segment map and import your l2c file, use X and Y positions to indicate the place where to start importing your l2c file.

Uh, sounds a bit confusing yeah, but it works! :)
