ODS 128 Tactical Engagement Story

Post by Snake Man »

Since I posted this to the SP dev forum, I might share it here too. This page is under construction and not yet finished, its rather stupid in most parts and I might even split up the beginning introduction to 128 theaters and the story part. Heck I might scrap the whole story part as its so geeky.

Hi Snakeman

Enjoyed that.

BTW - Did you fly the whole thing without time acceleration?

Very good! That was great! :)

I see you did a refuel with master arm ON. Hehe, big mistake.

Hehe no, didn't have the patience at that time. I'll soon try it in realtime tho.

No, nothing yet.

Did you also notice that the refuel was made with extra tanks and fuel state above 6800 (internal)... its my understanding that Falcon 4 wont fill the extra tanks, so the first refuel was meaningless :)

And about the master arm, well I dont know much about refuel since I first learned it back in 1999 :)

Hmmm...I need 16X, no, 32X time acceleration in 3d world!! :D :D

Awesome!

BTW, whats the estimated files size of 128 theaters like Haiwaii, Falkands, or Iceland? should be much less than ODS?

Snakeman-

Great article/story! I wouldn't change a thing (well, maybe some typos)... :) :)

One question, though, how realistic is that flight compared to sorties that were actually flown? I really have no idea (I know, I know, I should read more about ODS). :) 2 tanker refuels for an F-16 on a strike mission seems like alot, but like I said, I don't know of what I speak.

Great job,

Vipers in the Storm relats that 2 refuels were needed in ODS, one before entering hostile airspace and the other after the strike has ocurred. It is realistic alright. :(
T-Rex get VITS, it sure is a very good book!

Yeah my 4-hour-full-pack Desert Storm documentary video also states that many planes refuelled going in and also when returning.

I've been meaning to read VITS for as long as its been out. :)

With that much time in the air, how in the heck did so many sorties go out!? Gotta respect that!
