.map & .mea files & other things
Folks, I am in a jam. I am slow at this stuff but have finally built the .tac | .trn | .cam files for Libya. How do I create the .map & .mea files and what are they for?
Also can someone tell me which PERL file to run to create the *.L0 file?
One final ?. When I go to run PERL do I simply bring up DOS, while still in Windows, and type: example
perl dem2lf.pl libya-big.tga BIG_MAP_ID
Also can someone tell me which PERL file to run to create the *.L0 file?

If your theater is 64 segments, forget .map and .mea files. If your theater is 128 segments you need to dl the hex edited .map file from our downloads.quote:Originally posted by krfrge:

Nopes. You'll use Tinstall to create that (and the rest of the terrain files).quote:Also can someone tell me which PERL file to run to create the *.L0 file?

Never seen that error message before and I dont know what it means excatly... but I guess its that your theater.L2 is broken or missing.quote:Originally posted by krfrge:

Re: .map & .mea files & other things
Snake,
Looks like I got it fixed. This theatre is very raw though. Lots to do. Did get the Libya.L0 file created.
More to follow. Say how do I post the Libya map here?
Thanks for your help. Also the tutorials were a great help as well.

Re: .map & .mea files & other things
Hi there!
I just started playing around with Terrainview and got my first experience...
I made all the terrain files and modified the campaign/save folder as written in the Terrain Tutorial. It looks like I do not have the terrdata/korea/Files folder, so I made one and everything worked out just fine. I wanted to launch Falcon with my new terrain, but I get the following error message from Falcon:
No such file or directory: Could not read block offset data
Error 81: C:\FALCON4\Graphics\Terrain\Tlevel.cpp Dec 9 1999
I do not have Falcon on that partition installed. That is only used for Windows and the program files.
I have used both the 128 and 256 segment map files (separate). If I leave it away, it tells me to insert the Falcon4.0 CD instead.
Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong or what is missing?

Re: .map & .mea files & other things
Ok well you need to copy that from existing new terrain. However that tutorial is kind of old as we now use F4Patch to change theaters. There is no tutorial for creating F4Patch installation yet.quote:Originally posted by Lancer:

You have the terrain files missing (in that dir).quote:Error 81: C:\FALCON4\Graphics\Terrain\Tlevel.cpp Dec 9 1999
Kind of hard to say, I'd guess you dont have te registrys in order for your theater. Sorry about now having updated tutorial for F4Patch thing, but you can always grab a vietnam beta 4 and look the files yourself, if its only for YOU to test, install vietnam and copy YOUR theaters L2 and O2 files into the terrdata\vietnam\terrain dir and run F4PTinstall.exequote:I do not have Falcon on that partition installed. Re: .map & .mea files & other things
Well I do have no problem with the registry file. I changed my path to be on the new terrdata folder. Also, when I used the theater.map file of the Balkan theater, it would work with that .map file... It seemed that I had to use a 64 segment file...
However, now I am stuck in the last pie screen.
I took a look at the F4Patch file for Vietnam, and saw that I did everything the same, exept changing all the files in the /art and /campaign/save folder. The only files I changed there were the .idx, .thr and .wch files for my experimantal theater.
