Terrain Detail

Post by RP »

Dear Terrainers Image,

First of all thanks for all your efforts. Falcon is better because of it! In terms of terrain detail, not sure how this works but as you no Falcon lessons the terrain detail the higher up you go. Down low, the most detailed tiles and elevation mapping are seen, up high things are scaled down a bit in favor distance. Can this scaling be turned off (or reduced)? Or have we no choice in the matter?

I'm thinking, if the scaling could be turned off, that would make for higher detailed terrain even at high altitudes. I know processor power would be affected, however it might not be so bad.

Thanks.

Well I experimented with this a few weeks ago
having the same idea..

still when I deleted the lower lods
in the theater.map file it just didn't tile the area's.. so experiment failed
the switching between the lods is most certainly coded in the *.exe
so I guess we came too late with this idea
although I still have some hope it is somewere stated in a datafile.. Image
