Yes, its true... about 4 years too late, but hey, it got done! anyway posting this here as i cant get to the thread that striker posted in, in the europe section... But yeah, one or two small issues to fix (thanks to Striker for find ing them), then i'm going to host them on OpenSkins, so ppl can grab the stuff and create theaters...
Yeah, Im playing with 128Seg Berings as a test theater, to test some toys im still writing! Main hassle with this is, DEM2Terrain DOESNT like the International Date Line (180E/180W). Also had to DL DEM's in sections, then write a DEM Splicing app to put them back together.
But yeah, that said, i have come up with some ways to get round this! Not sure what the end product will be like yet tho...

128 berings strait.. crossing america and asia..wonder how ground war go in the theater..invading alaska would be a stupid idea, landmass can easily dilute invading ground forces. more a playground for stragic airforce, pure longe-range penestration/strike, long-range escort, and BARCAP..hmm,, sounds a nice theatre for MP.
in contrast, with converted russian data, Kurile isle can be created now..so does black sea area.
Berings would be a good TE theater... Set up some hardcore AD stuff and do LOTS of SEAD and BarCAP. Could be fun for some Low-level, hi speed penetration stuff too... Moving ground forces across the ocean is still a no-go, but yeah..

you'll have to give red forces some landmass on Alaska in the begining of war.
say, have you sucessfully convert china data? chances to reproduce the conflict between Russia-china border, India-china, and Vietnam-china border..the most cool part could be india-china fighting over the ridges..i think the spiky snow-capped ridges would be really cool when flying over.
You're not going to believe this, but I actually had a whole bunch of stuff for a Bering Sea theater.
The premise was that a technological advance allowed for greater oil exploration up there. A couple political/social things go bad and pretty soon, there's a fight between the US and Russia for control of 4-5 mega-oil platforms.
Cool, i take it the Data works?!?! Cos i did the conversion FROM MEMORY and was not able to test any of the data locally... cool...
Snakey, does PMC want to also host the RussiaWest, RussiaCentral, RussiaEast and China corrected data sets? Lets face it, its where everyone comes!
As per always the only rules governing the use of this stuff is, its not to be used on commercial stuff, AND if ppl do use it, drop me a line to let me know what theyre doing; its interesting to find out what ppl decide to do with the stuff! Like Kurile Islands, looks cool...
Which them prompts the question, is Striker still out there? How did the 87th do with their Nordic Theater?

Yeah I could throw that into the normal theater mirror places. But its the Russia complete e00 data which were talking about as China is already working from the DCW site.

Dont put them up in zip format as its just wasted space, dont get me going how many megabytes is lost for all those four packets compared to rar.
For the China I already answered, but for Russia data, I think combining them into one RAR with nice readme and then uploading it to the mirror sites would be cool. Just my opinion.
