Rivers on high altitudes

Post by Snake Man »

Can someone shed some light on the issue of rivers on high altitude areas like mountains.

What about so high that we have snowcap, I believe (with my retared mind) there there are zero rivers as ... well they would be frozen... :?

But what about some rocky mountains, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Afghanistan... Iran etc etc.

I guess you want find rivers, unless there are lakes there. Most stuff will be smaller streams accumulating in some kind of basin into wild rivers. No basin, no river tiles. Creating the ravines on slopes are hard, but Zaggy and others, can make good tiles for this. (check lower link)

I don't see any solution yet to the lake problem in cate (???) so doing your homecountry will be one of the hardest missions for a tiler, Snake Man.

Check this part from Northern Norway: http://nord-troms.no/lyngen/galleri/

Map from same area. A lot of small lakes and streams, but to recreate on tiles would be too hard. The resolution are just to low. http://www.maponweb.com/no/start.html?2 ... 1329NaNNaN

In the authumn/spring the side would be wet and dark, summer lighter and winter covered with snow. Guess the same goes for a lot of alpine countries. The difference would mainly be the colors of the different rock types.
