DEM data 40x40 error

I am building a large 40x40 map but when I try to download the DEM data from the GLOBE site it tells me "The region you have selected is too big!"

What is going on here?

Seems to me you have selected too big dem to be downloaded (heh like it says). I havent leeched 40 by 40 degree datas for a while, but last time I did, it worked fine.

Make sure the statusline in the globe service says 4800 x 4800 (I think it was regions or something). You should be allowed to dl that.

Could I just ask the last time you leeched 40x40 datas, was it on the equator or nearer the poles?

(I was just thinking that 40x40 datas with more water result in smaller files)

if I now try to download 10x10 DEM data from Globe, I get the default coordinaties (East: -180, West 180, Norh 90, South -90 or something like that) in the headerfile each and everytime I try to download new DEM data. It used to work fine before.

Anyidea what goes wrong? I'm using East:6, West: 16, North: 57, South: 47.

I have exactly that terrain in my drive, was trying to get it working but the terrain features always are wrong (kind of like you posted before). Dunno whats wrong with it. Anyway if you need that data you mentioned, its right here. just email me and you'll get it.

I got the features all laid out.

I discovered that if you use Julian's perlscripts to create the TDF files, you can't use DEM2_L2 to create the *.L? files for you cause they will "mismatch".

But when I create the *.L? files using Julian's perlscript I *DO* get the correct *.L? files and in Terrainview the TDF features will match *perfectly*.

Yes but then the map is bit wrong, of course someone could say "who cares" and others bitch to the end for correctly spherical conversion made map. I dont know Korea, Balkans, Vietnam and F4ME looks good to me

Of course if there is a choice, it would be good to use spherical converter to do the map "right".
