Giants Editor saving not responding with a map.i3d_temp0 file name
So I'm having an issue with Giants. So I'm working on creating a map. I have added my dem and its coming in right. Well anytime I add a primitive object or transform group and go to save the file it causes GE to not respond. I have noticed that it creates a new file in my folder called map.i3d_temp0 and the number goes up from there. I've checked my editor log and nothing showing there. I've tried creating my own blank map and tried on different sizes. Has anyone seen this issue or know what is causing it?

Re: Giants Editor saving not responding with a map.i3d_temp0 file name
Nope, nothing like that never happened to me.
When you say you tried different sizes, have you started from the bare basics, have you tried doing 2km x 2km size terrain using the same image resolutions and XML configs as giants elmcreek for example?
You said nothing shows up in the log, well just in case maybe you could copy-paste the log here, add it to the CODE tags (you can find the icon in "post a reply" menu header).

You didn't answer my question about default file sizes / configs?
2) never ever use special characters in addon / mod directory or file names.
8gb RAM is very little for windows 10 with editing tools running system, I'd highly recommend getting more RAM. But guess it could still barely work if you close all the other software in the background, at least it would help a lot. Also this is rather large step, more like generic future task to accomplish, just wanted to point out that 8gb RAM is very little these days.Main System

So is it you need to know about default sizes? My map dem is scaled at 8192. When I add my dem I made plane and when I scale it to 16384 it fits perfect. I have not edited any thing else. Also, how do I get stuff out of my one drive?

Re: Giants Editor saving not responding with a map.i3d_temp0 file name
No I asked have you tried to make a 2km x 2km size terrain without editing any image resolutions or XML config files, using as much as the giants default stuff as possible, if that also freezes GE then there is something really weird going on in your operating system / hardware in general, but if not, then its clearly something you messed up on the current project which already has several errors in the log too.
No idea how to use onedrive, just in general don't use it in the first place, prevents any issues. But I mean how do you get files out of there, umm in windows file explorer select them, CTRL-C copy and then back to your hard disk and CTRL-V paste, dunno if onedrive crap works like any additional hard disk / device in windows but if it does, then yeah just copy paste (or cut paste).

So this would be me just scaling my dem down to 2048 correct?

Create a new sample terrain and simply don't change anything. Test that version to see if you get same freezing or not.

I do not have any freezing issues. It is only on my map that I’m having an issue. I can open any other map and do anything to it without a problem.

Re: Giants Editor saving not responding with a map.i3d_temp0 file name
Okay good, so now you have narrowed down that it is one specific terrain project which is giving the issue, now its easier to start debugging what is wrong with that project.
As I said above, start by removing all the errors in the log, I've seen this happen with many other people over the years, they create brand new terrain and plug in some "k00l" building or object models never caring about any errors, with the attitude that as long as it looks great who cares what goes on under the hood. This is a grave mistake.
Once you removed all the error models / mods, then figure out replacements for those or if there are none... umm well try to figure out if there is any XML etc configs to change which would fix the issue (this can be problematic if those are not your addons so you don't have permissions to edit).
