M, L and T tile Auto Generator download

Post by Guest » 2000-11-04 22:37:00

I've added the M, L and T tile generator into the downloads. This little package should read your H tiles and generate the smaller tiles for you automatically.

You need to put H tiles into some directory, along with your fartiles pallette pcx image. This image could be just basic H tile but with fartile pallette and xfartile.pcx filename.

4dos.com is required to run before using the runtiles.bat file (4dos has the for loop support). The runtiles.bat file wont work on normal windows command.com environment.

I must remind that this is just for testing purposes as the alchemy.exe somehow "smears" the top two pixels of all resized images. I didnt even notice it when flying with falcon but closer look to m,l or t tiles and you'll see it.

If you test this, please post a message here of what you think of it.

I tested it on one tile it works fine,

I hope that you can get the problem with the two pixel rows shifting right in the futere.
You can see it well but maybe this is because I changed a coast tile (mixed Hcost000 with Hcost60D, this to make this a real coast tile).

Tanx alot for your effort

I downloaded latest alchemy.exe which supports new parameter to resize, it should work little bit better.

This is Runtiles v1.0 ;)

Check it out and again, I'd like to hear your comments of the results.

I've tested runtiles1
I doesn't work.
As far as I see the palletes get mixed up somehow on M an L tiles. When I looked in PSP
I noticed that all of the tiles get different color pallets.
For all of this I could not see if the smearing is gone now (ofcourse).

Yet when I used the old runtiles.bat with the new alchemy.exe it works fine yet still with the smearing of pixel rows.
Yet the color palletes are what the should be
H M L the same and T same as xfartile.pcx

Do you have a Tutorial alchemy.exe?

I'll be testing some more and let you know if I can find the problem.

Found the problem

Tiles right
Smearing gone

@echo off
md mtiles
md ltiles
md ttiles
for %x in (h*.pcx) do alchemy ---f -p -Xb64 -Yb64 %x mtiles\%x
for %x in (h*.pcx) do alchemy ---f -p -Xb32 -Yb32 %x ltiles\%x
for %x in (h*.pcx) do alchemy -fxfartile.pcx -p -Xb16 -Yb16 %x ttiles\%x
cd mtiles
ren h*.pcx m*.pcx
move m*.pcx ..
cd ../ltiles
ren h*.pcx l*.pcx
move l*.pcx ..
cd ../ttiles
ren h*.pcx t*.pcx
move t*.pcx ..
cd ..
rd mtiles
rd ltiles
rd ttiles

I've entered the following option
---f

This option makes sure that the color pallet stays the same as the original (H) tile.

Would you mind puting generate.pl in you're
download directory (Not neccesarry in the download section) I'll find my way there.

Yes its great, but I'm still not sure it resizes the images so that they look 100% perfect. Or maybe something else is wrong in my texture setup as there is somewhat clitches on the tiles (when flying Falcon).

Does the textures work perfectly in your theater?

does your tile generator do something better or different than Tinstall? Just wondering if I should be using it, it seems to me the "new" best way to make a new theater is to use Warlocko's Dem2L.exe to make the L2 and maps (corrected for polar errors that way) followed by TV auto and hand tiling, followed by your prog to generate L3+ tiles, then Tinstall
What do you say?

Hi Crossup.

My "Runtiles v1.1" only reads H tiles and creates M, L and T tiles. it really dont have anything to do with tinstall.
