using tac edit 1.29

Hi all........I've just downloaded TacEditor 1.29 and being new to this type of thing, am a bit clueless as to how to use it. I've noticed that no helpfile has come with it and this leaves me more clueless still. I've gotten a korea.bmp file so i can see the map.....but whenever I change something then test the TE I've made.....it crashes to desktop. My primary reason for using this utility is to add some ships to make my TE's more interesting. If anyone could direct me toward some reading or a helpfile....I'd greatly appreciate it......thanks in advance,
