Okie dokie. I'm tied up working a Master Arm & Release Matrix problem at the moment, but I got my hands on a layout of the flightline and ramp. What goes where kinda thing.

I'll try and get a list of the units/aircraft that are here for this and the next sessions. We (the 524th) are here for Air Warrior and there's a Red Flag or a FWIC going on now for some other guys. In a couple weeks we'll be doing Red Flag as well.

From what I remember, your pics look pretty good. They could perhaps get a little more tan...beige...something. I'll try and dig up some pics for you.

I have the 549 squadron, its air warrior, i also will add yours, hehehehe, the web page is still underconstruction, dont have much free time lately, have to pass all of my exams...
I would be very thanked about the units at there since im adding stuff to the VERYALPHACAMPAING, all the research that ive done has been at the library and some old books, and if anyone knows, is there f117 in the tophona airbase, or f22 in the nellis airbase????

I went out to the range Friday afternoon to watch a live drop expo. That was DAMN cool. Got some pretty good pictures as well.

Tip for explosion artists: The flashes for everything was a real bright dark red if that makes any sense. Black smoke all through it but almost just as fast as it was there, all that was left was a brown plume of dust.

As for the terrain I would say the tiles already made for Desert Storm would do it justice.

I don't know the squadrons that are here besides the Nellis ones (WA) and (WW). Mountain Home is here (MO) as well as all three Cannon Squadrons 522,523,524 (CC). There were some 117s here but I think that was just for the live drop.

As I don't have access to a scanner, ya'll are going to have to wait until I get back to Clovis to send them off. Your pics look good. I'll try and sketch out a map as to what I saw out at the range so you can try and build yours to match.

Let me know how else I can help,

Jeff

Update to the squadrons here...some Marine Harriers showed up yesterday. Seymore Johnson is here. And a BONUS to all Falcon 4.0 lovers... tail code "VA" WOO HOO!! I actually giggled a little bit. The exact tail that F4 uses.

Got some pretty good pictures from the south end of the runways back across the ramp and the base and from there across the LOLA ramp and the east side of the base.

MOre later..

From what I saw...black and charred. Image

I'm going back out there on my day off Tuesday to get a decent map drawn up of the range area.

na na.. Jeff, i'd like to know what they paint target ground vehicles like...green/european scheme, or plain desert/stripe desert camo, or something else.(for Blue and Red sides)

Yeah....like I said, black and charred. The vehicles that were bombed...had been bombed before. At least as far as I could tell. The vehicles that are actually DRIVEN out there by the range guys use the standard US desert camo scheme.

We're up here supporting Air Warrior, a joint USAF/Army exercise kinda thing so I guess I might could ask around a bit and find out. Probably the same scheme (desert camo).

As far as aircraft are concerned. Just the standard aggressor schemes up here. Viperwear's got em both nailed. The blue one and the brown desert one.

If you REALLY want to pick and choose good and bad guys like the aircrew do, they fly with orange AMA pods on the bad guys. AMA pods are CAP-9 missile bodies with no seeker head. Just a concrete plug to complete the weight and balance of the thing. Only, like I said, it's bright day-glo orange.

Thanx Jeff. so they bomb those ground vehicles again and again? Image
sounds a good news, i can simply discard the colors of all ground vehicle skins, turn them into flat black skins! Image Image

just kidding, i think range guys will paint some colors or schemes on them, for training pilots' visual acuity...charred vehicles are easily spotted, arent they?

once you got Red and Blue ground vehicle shots or see them, let me know, so i can decide which set of skin to use, plain sand color series, or stripe desert camo ones.

Had a cool day today. A pilot came back from dropping some Mk-82AIRs today...only he had some faults. Two went slick, two didn't go boom. I got to watch his HUD tapes to figure out what he might have done wrong.

I can tell you three things: the target vehicles out on the range are indeed black and charred (at least the three that they targeted were), the similarities between F4 and the Block 40 F-16 are frightening, I really, really, really, really, really want to get another incentive flight...only with BOMBS this time. Image

I'll do some more digging as to the other vehicles out on the range.

Bad news on the pics I took while I was out there. Apparently the roll of film spent a LITTLE too much time in my car. Read: MELTED

That stinks. The pictures you've posted though were about as good as I think you'll get. They look REALLY good.

And be sure that i apreciate your word, so, if you dont like something of the tiles..., just say it.
